my rant... Had a WTF just happened moment?

So over the weekend, I was gonna get something to eat and I walked into this place with a bar. I was in a good mood too but this angry guy walks straight at me.  I see him coming so I stopped and tried to move over to one side to let him pass.  I even said "excuse me" as I stepped to the side, but he changes path directly towards me and says "Get the fu!ck out of my way!" and throws a stiff forearm/elbow right into my sternum as he brushes by me and out the door.  By the time I was able to process what just happened, he was gone.  I didn't even have time to react.  I'm just left thinking... WTF? I was totally not prepared to react to this guy's aggression.  Think I'm gonna have to be more aware of my surroundings from now on.
