Check with those who have gone there regularly. Last time I went there two  years ago, I met a Hmong family. They said my two partners and I could still just get into the camp and put up our tent on the spot.

There are also motels around.

We wanted to plan a trip to North Dakota's Devil's lake this year for the experience, but daym.  All the camp grounds show no availability for early July.  I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the site or if it's all booked up for reals already.

Ok. You can stay local.

Yes, we can do camp fires at two sites: Lester River and Stewart River.

Stewart River is about 24 miles up from Duluth, so I hardly go there though.

Stewart River:

Lester River:

Bro,

We got lots of fish here too
I don’t want to cross state
When we can do it here for free
We both are fishing in the same body of water

My crew are built tough
We don’t mind the cold
It doesn’t brother us

Do they allow you guys to make campfire?

hmm.. there is a casino resort there.  Maybe they'll have good rates and we can just put everything in a trailer and park in their parking lot.  Cameras everywhere should make it safe too.  O0

Perhaps.  Or even travel out to another town for another nearby motel.

Last time my partners and I were there two years ago, I insisted on us fishing all night Saturday night. We didn't sleep. No need for a place.

You should take along some kids. Then your limits will be hire, more worth the long trip.

Also remember to go very early to the gas stations that have minnows. They run out before 8 a.m. each day most summers.
