What is ua nyuj dab?

I've been a christian all my life so I have no idea what this entails but  I  had a cousin who call me and asked me to go to his event.  He's doing a "tua Nyuj txhaws qhov tsev".  I didn't know what that meant so I asked and he says, it means "ua nyuj dab rau cov laus". 

So anyway, what does that mean, why do they do it and what does it entail?  Anyone here, know Hmong culture enough to explain it to me?
