I would never buy a house that much, unless I'm banking in the high millions.
A house is just a rental from the bank until you actually paid it off ... until then it isn't yours.

If you have time on your life to sit on it and a way to use the house or land to pay for your house then sure it might be worth it.  All you are going to be out is property tax and down payment which is nothing.

In real estate, to win, there is a system and some have found it.  If you pump money into your real estate then you are in the wrong system.

Lol

Stop trying to pump up the real estate market
Just move to the midwest
Get yourself a $50k house and be done

I heard ya and yes cheaper where you are at but given the condition of where you at, dedicated californian's like theking won't last there.   Anywhere but farther away from you is his spice of life.

If you own a home in the bay area, chances are.....

You can trade your current bay area home for that home.

Many people are selling their bay area home and got out by the way.  Lets say a million even.  They then buy multi houses in the valley.  Live in one and rental property out the rest.  3 houses for 900K can be had with 100K left over for incidentals or upgrades.  This is what they are doing.

i get that cali is a hot spot for many... but if i had a choice of spending that kind of money on a home in cali with only that many acres... i wld look outside of cali but that's just me...

as more californians are moving here for cheaper real estate... many of us coloradans are looking to the midwest for cheaper real estate as well... like hmgrock suggested, i'd take my 200k plus equity and cash out a home and tons of land in the midwest for dirt cheap...

duma,

bro, that just some badddd advice
you are telling people to buy houses at a near all time high
what you need to be doing is
telling people to "sell" their houses and prep for the market crash

"buy low, sell high"

don't be asking for uncle sam to bail you out again like in 2008

Well it is California so the prices is a tad higher for the quality of life here.

I know that some redneck cities with $850k can buy you 3 times this big.   Your neighbors may not have seen a real life azn in person until you show up.

That's true. When we first moved here me and my sister was the only Hmongs in the whole school ;D  but rednecks aren't so bad once you get to know them. They like backyard cooking, I like backyard cooking O0

Like I said.  If you pump a million n the house depreciation under a mil, you losing out.

Now if you pump 20% down n get others to pay your house for you or with that big land n raises foster farm chicken with incomes let's say equals to your mortgage then how much is you losing really?  Ask flit your math boy for accounting homework.

If you already sitting on a home, you have time to wait for another bust, one I think can happen but not as esteem.

If it is your first house hunt and you wait, what if it will not burst?  You wasted your time in an opportunity to enjoy your very first house.

Not many people have the luxury to play the waiting game.

Bro

Those chicken, your tenant raised ain’t yours
You will only get the monthly rent
Thats it

Plus

You shouldn’t be downing 20%
Unless you plan on living there and dying in that house

Be Prepare to walk away when the housing market crash
That’s what alot of folks did in 2008
They just walk away
Chain reaction

All these
Imma buy property and rent them out AIRBNB
house pay for itself

Good luck trying to convince the bank to give you million
