Planning a trip to North Dakota..
« on: June 24, 2019, 08:56:25 AM »
Devils Lake. In July.

Where are the hot spots?  What's the best bait?  Is there boat rental?

MN folks, Devil's lake experts, experienced Devil's lake Hmong peeps,  What say you?

ND is another hot spot for J4....hmong everywhere.  you're practically, fishing right next to the roads.  reports says the weeds are encroaching the shore lines.  unless you're driving and have camping gear, there are locations where cabins are available.  seek a camping location where there's boat rental.  aside from white bass, you will certainly enjoy walleyes, muskies and/or pikes.

We're camping for a few nights.  It's more of a camping trip, but fishing is definitely in the agenda, since this is the place many Hmongs have raved.  I'm going for Walleyes, definitely.  Any recommendation s on the setup?

you should ask hmgrock, he uses a zebco spinner with an ugly stick...ha!

highly recommended are 15-20lb braided lines.  a 6-7 feet fishing pole.  what works best are crank baits or soft plastic jigs.  the white bass run are over, so it will take a bit of skill to catch some of these fish.  Devil's Lake is split into many sections...you may need to drive around to find hot spots...but where ever you see hmong people, that's usually the tell tale.

if you don't catch any fish, i would recommend driving 6-7 hours east and hit up Lake Phalen, you'll catch all sorts of fish, including dragons. ha!

Lol

Hard for you bro
Im catching them like crazy
My freezer is full of fish
I still have whitefish from the winter

Lol

Im just eating my weekly limit due to mercury pollution
And health hazards warning

The reason why your $200+++ st croix isn’t working
Is because you are not using it right
Your expensive setups, require higher skills

Im just using basic easy stuff

With those $10 lure

Testing it out, they say

Catching weed and scaring my fishes away

Just get $2.50/ a dozen Canadian worms and be done with it
