 :-\Yax,

Buy gulp minnows with 1/8 oz jig w/ 8-10# mono.  Usually 2.5" green, chartuese, or orange minnow do the work.  Don't bother trying to find a place ahead of time...Just find a camp ground and then drive around and when you see Hmong cars, stop there and fish.

HIGHWAY 2.  See coordinate below.  The best spot is this channel between dry lake and devil's lake.  The fish gather there to breed.

48.167878, -98.979711

Other is Tiger Bay...

It all depends on the wind condition you know because the wind moves the bait and the fish follows.

trying to learn and master it

scaring away my fishes
don't get mad when you ain't catching fish

LOL...as a seasoned fisherman, i've already mastered the tricks and trade of fishing.  the difference between you and i...when i fish, i have a target fish (a specific fish i'm aiming to catch) but with you every fish is your target! ha!

I saw them videos of previous years of a hmong new year fishing in dakota.

I thought that was fun as hell.  Combat fishing they calling it.   Even white folks be using that youtube video as a training guide to talk smack about azn.

I had to regulate before they banned me.   Good times on them redneck's fishing forums.

Them redneck be reeling in too fast
Sometimes the fish are at the bottom
And you gotta reel slow and bounce the bait off the ground

So why don't you two both meet up at an agreed spot and see who can catch more. Each using their own rod and reel setup and both using the same bait (worm) for 30 minutes then both switch to same lure for 30 minutes. Whoever ends up with the most sunnies after 1 hour is declared the undisputed winner.  ;D
