We visited my mom and a Hmong woman stopped by to sell some stuff and she asked if our daughter's ears are pierced. I told her no and she looked shocked. She's like "everyone" does it and I dispute that false claim with facts that not "everyone" had their ears pierced or want it, and told her that we're going to let our daughter decide that for herself when she's older since it's something that she can't get back if we decide for her. Chances are, she'll be fine if we decided to pierce her ears as a baby but we ain't taking that chance because we feel non-necessity things like that should be left up to the individual to decide. It's kind of like circumcising a baby..Then she's like you can't compare ear piercing to circumcision and I said, yes I can because you're purposely put a baby through pain that he/she may not want it as he/she gets older and can't get it back.
