Casino: economy, jobs, money, power, greed, etc.  ;D:

Quote
In Oklahoma, governor tests power of tribal gambling

ADA, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma's history is so deeply intertwined with the 39 Native American tribes located there that the state's creation in 1907 was celebrated with a symbolic wedding ceremony between the Indian and Oklahoma territories.

The relationship between Oklahoma and the tribes has sometimes been contentious, but one of its undisputed successes has been a 15-year-old agreement to expand gambling in the state.

Since the tribes got the exclusive right to open casinos, Native American gambling has become a bigger economic factor in Oklahoma than in any other state except California. Dozens of casinos, including several glittering Las Vegas-scale complexes, generate more than $2 billion a year, with $139 million going to the state's coffers last year.

But gambling money has changed more than the tribes' bank accounts. It has greatly increased their political muscle, as the state's new Republican governor recently discovered. After a clash with tribal leaders, Gov. Kevin Stitt and political supporters are facing a test of tribal power that now extends well beyond the state's Native American population into the economy of many Oklahoma towns...

You know here in cali, I have been to about 90% of all them tribal land casinos and I have to say that I have never seen an indian person there.  Only one time I saw an indian but this indian guy is not from the reservation and has a white chick for a wife.

So basically, on an indian reservation, they have their own government and cops so of speak.  Some of the revenues that the casino profits go into the pockets of them natives that are living nearby.  It only make sense cuz if you are profiting from an organization, you are banned from being a customer at such casino.  It is like how residents from alaska are their $1000 rebate paycheck.  It also makes sense cuz I have never seen an indian who collects such money would work like a normal joe like us in a nearby factory.  Unless they are business owner and perhaps, those folks deferred from getting a penny from a local casino.

But yeah, where the heck are them indians?  Yall see any that works?  They are like retired folks who gets a check every month from them local casinos cuz they surely don't get no social security check like us.  I don't even know if they do have a social security card either.

So if yall in an indian reservation area and if the coast is clear and you are at a traffic light or stop sign, just run it.  Nothing will happen to you cuz them tribal cops don't give out speeding tickets.  That is your FYI but don't hold my words for it.

"where the heck are them indians?"

I have not seen too many pure American Indians/Native Americans at Indian casinos over the years either..Maybe a few mixed or have a small percentage of Native American blood but not pure except when they run political ads..That's when I usually see one or two with some White folks promoting what ever needed for their casino... ???

I'm doing my best to learn more about them indian casinos.   When I go, my friend be like... stop feeding the indians.    :2funny:

I thought that native americans have perks since the white men took their land and thus, can run their own land at will but with exception.  Looks like there are indians who are collecting government checks like we americans do but they have to once worked for the government where tax are being collected.

" Many tribal members are veterans or disabled or retired after years of serving as railroad workers, artists and educators, in tribal jobs, or in general labor. These people receive V.A. or disability or social security checks from the government, as would any other American. "

Looks like they are able to collect from food stamps too.  I mean if such program is for all Americans then they do qualify.

" TANF is also available for single mothers but often requires them to volunteer for 40 hours a week in a supervised work program leading to job placement. Other social programs such as WIC and SNAP (food stamps) are available on the reservations; these are the same programs available to all Americans, with allocations made based on demonstrated need. "

They pay federal but not state tax if working on indian ground

"Like all Americans, Native Americans pay federal income tax on any income they earn, including casino earnings. They do not pay state tax for income earned within reservation boundaries."

Not all indians are getting them casino money.  Most are but not all but first, the revenues must be spread across to help out the natives communities such as healthcare and education.

Indian casinos create jobs but those jobs were designated for them Indians themselves but at low wages, why work when you can still get payed right?  In California, them jobs are picked up by non natives.  Go figures!

This is the reason why I do not see an indian at them indian casinos.  They do not even work there so what the heck right?

Well it all depends as well.  California is my market and to find an indian anywhere in california is hard but to find one in an indian casino is even harder.  However, california does not represent all them other tribes.  North and South dakota is where you want to see them indians.  80% of them indian casino jobs are held up by native americans.  There are also indians out there in them remote areas but because of those low traffic areas, an indian casino can not thrive there so therefore, there is no casino in no man's indian land.  Go here to read more if you are interested.

Not too long ago, there was a fight at that one fresno casino.  It involves 2 tribes of indians.  Over what you say?  I'll say money and how it was distributed.  Like one tribe who was considered as the original indian wants in.  Everyone wants that per capita monthly stipends.

Then just recently in august of this year, they booted fake indians out of their tribe.  No free lunch for fake engines.   :2funny:
