Driver gets probation for car crash that killed five members of New Jersey family

A Maryland man who was behind the wheel during a fatal crash last year won’t serve any time behind bars.

Alvin Hubbard III was driving south on a Delaware highway in July 2018 when he drove over the median and hit a sedan, then collided with a minivan, killing the family inside.

Audie Trinidad, 61 and his daughters, 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna and 13-year-old twins Allison and Melissa, from Teaneck, New Jersey, were all killed.

Hubbard was indicted in November on five counts of second-degree vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault, to which he pleaded not guilty, then changed his plea when the state came back with lesser charges: five counts of operating a vehicle causing death, and one count each for second-degree and third-degree vehicular assault, according to the Delaware News Journal.
