Back when Galaga was very popular back in the 80's, I can play it for at least 1 hour or more with one token/quarter at places like Golfland or at a neighborhood small store. I became so good that I can play all the way until I maxed out the score and recycles the game. Some kids would put their token/quarter on the arcade machine indicating that they got next but just ended up getting frustrated because the wait was too long. I recently played again and was able to duplicate what I did as a kid after a couple of tries ...still got it ;D (And oh, one tip, if you're going to take pictures, do it right after the challenge stages as it gives you a couple of seconds before the next stage is ready  O0):

You are on a whole another level.  I call it mentally gifted cuz them games are mentally challenged that not a lot of people can achieve.

My azz would get 2 ships side by side just to missed a bunch in the 1st bonus round.  Another time, when the ship would be carried on top of that one bug, my azz would shoot my own ship instead.

Video game is not for me.  Atari pacman is another story.  Video pin ball is my love.  One crane is always up while the other one is down is my style.  I can hold the ball to take a break at will with pinball.  I also like the fact that it is like gambling like when you already exhausted your 3 balls and die, there is a match at the very end.  Like a lotto, if the random number generator number matches the last 2 digits of your final score, you won another credit.  It is the popping sound if it hits that I so loved the most.  It sounds like someone takes a ruler and smack real hard on wooden floor.

Also, I would and still do now by walking passed them pinball machines and looking at the credits.  People sometimes put in more quarters than needed to play so extra credits are there but once done, they just leave.  It is here that I jump right in for the free games.

Ghetto style, I know.

You know the way of "The Force" where your enemies shoots blank at you.  "I am one with the force and the force is with me."

I take it a step further.  While growing up, I already had the mind of an engineer.   I would go to the local bowling alley and they would have their arcade room.  Most bowling alley also has a cafe diner.  You get there early and you hit the cafe and borrow or steal their metal knife silverware.  You go look into the trash can and you will find a used pack of smoke.  you strip it into the size of a juicy fruit gum.  Now you place that strip onto the coin slot horizontally and with your knife, you push it deep enough where it is hidden but not too far that it would fall down with the coins.  Then you go home and come back a few hours.  People would put their quarter into the slot and it would get stuck.  Pushing the return button doesn't work either because the paper has lodge the hole of the coin slot.  They don't just put one coin, they would put another, in thinking that the second coin would somehow make the first one drop in.

You go back with the same butter knife and while pushing the return coin slot button, you insert your butter knife and you shake it violently.  Some coins will go into the game and gives you free game but do it right and all them coins will fall out like a jackpot machine.

There you have it.  If you ever become homeless and need a way to eat, try this and don't get caught.  Love it when that coin slot is so full with coins that it is super full.  Probably about $5 worth.

That string on the coin trick, I used that method at all stops when I took the greyhound bus from cali to mn that one year.  Gotta play free games on down time while waiting for our next connection.  An added bonus is a story to be told as an arcade gamer be pulling crimes in every states from cali to mn cuz them buses I tell ya, it stopped so many and throughout.  When younger, we did it for the experiences.  Now that I'm older and wiser, my time is too important to be wasted on them buses.

I spent quite a few quarters/tokens before getting to that level...becaus e that was my favorite arcade game growing up...Number 2 favorite was Pac-Man, then Centipede, then Frogger, then Karate, then Joust, then Donkey Kong, then Pole Position... check out the awesome graphics of Pole Position back in the days...;D

And no, I didn't steal like some kids I know where they would tie a string to the token so it can be pulled back out after credit is activated or smash down smaller coins like nickels so it's the same size as quarters to play the game... ;D ;D ;D

you are such a liar! A string on a coin does not work nor does smashing a nickel to make it wider so your claim is a complete lie and now.. You'll have to 1, search Google to try to find out if there's any info to support your lie and when you can't find any you'll have to 2, backtrack and claim you meant something else when you made that bogus claim.

A string on a coin works.  You just use tape and maybe a strong thread.   Even if I can set you up with the contraption, you might not be able to do it.  It took me tries after tires with different machines to learn the evolution of those machines.  Them older machines were easier and the skill set is in the hand of the person like a trade.  You can't go too deep or it will go down like a coin and you can't go too shallow or nothing will work.  It is at that right moment where you can feel it spot cuz them credits be flipping and what not.

They got smarter.  String coining was getting too popular so newer machines added what I called a cutter cuz anytime I would try it, it would cut my string and not even giving me my 1 credit either.

My crooked co workers back in them days went high tech.  He ran into this guy who had a molding device and so they would make metals the same circumference and weight of a quarter.  They did bags and bags filled with them and took it to vegas to cheat.  Like put counterfeit in and cash out real quarters style.  He said it did not work.  He said non of them casinos would work.  Did not get caught either.    :2funny:

You just made the YAK poop in his pants...I mean it's common knowledge that those were the tricks back in the early 80s when arcade was really popular until they caught on to it..Same with the "counterfeit" coins...Again, common knowledge except for the handful members of the narrow minded ignorant clique.. ;D
