I've owned a C-5 back in the 90s. The choices were the C5, Supra or Z for me at that time...I eliminated the Z because it only offered a 5-speed manual. Both the C5 and Supra have a 6-speed manual gearbox but I've already owned 2 Supras by that time so I chose the C5. And yes when it comes to a true sports car, a real manual gearbox with a clutch pedal should be the only option...

High points: HP, TQ, looks, getting the wave from a small tight Vette ownership community..

Low points: The stock run-flat ..It affected the handling too much so I swapped it, and quality, tend to have more issues than the Japanese vehicles I've owned overall.

Guy does not fit the definition of a vette driver.  Guy looks like the reporter.  Your uncle thailand visiting hmong looking guy.

I own an 2008 3LT A6 Z51.  Bought it 6yrs ago with 5k miles.  Currently has 31k miles.  I drive it everyday.  I'm not the typical vette owner.  I bought it for a reason.  No major issues.  It hasn't been washed in months.  Car has already been scratched and hit but ohh well.  It's life, no need to cry about it.  Thinking about a C7Z but the car market is ridiculous.  Not a fan of the C8 but C8Z does look a bit better.  So who knows, I may get that after 2-3yrs after release.  The dream car is a Gen V Viper.

Sometimes it's better to wait..until the bugs are all worked out..

My C5 was a first year of a new gen so it has a few bugs like many first year, first gen models..

The thing that *bug* me the most is the Flintstones' tires..that came stock with the Vette.

Those run flat tires were a good idea at the time, but the compound was too hard so didn't grip that well...in my experience.

My brother has a C5 and a buddy had a C5Z. I drove them both for long periods of time. I love the design and layout of the car, but man they're cheap POS. Loose plastics, bolts coming undone, flimsy rear bumper, drooping roof carpets and pieces of the interior don't fit right. Squeaks and rattles when you drive it. Handles like a boat compared to other sports cars. Just a terrible piece of American car.  With that said, I still want one. lol  Maybe a C5Z or C6Z with upgraded springs and bushings for a better feel. Intake and mild rumbling exhaust to keep the excitement going when driving it. Also a shifter for a better feel so it doesn't feel like I'm driving a truck. lol

A C6Z would be a great choice.  Just remember that some LS7 have faulty valves.  Other than that LS motors are great imo.  I have no complaints about my C6.  It has plenty of power, no body roll, no major issues, of course I don't  track but it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it.  It's made to be affordable, the used market that is.  To me, it's the best bang for your buck.  Most vettes are owned and babied by old men.

I've seen two Corvettes in the east side of St. Paul driven by Hmong.

I don't know them. But I've seen them drive their Corvettes there. One Corvette is red; the other is ivory silver kind of stuff. The red one parks on 7th Street by a Hmong house everyday.
