After the Hmong shaman god won his battle against a powerful demon, his victory was celebrated with 30 types of Hmong dishes.
That event became a tradition of annual celebration as the new year starts each year.
Somehow that's just a name nowadays. The only dishes that are celebrated at Hmong new years are sticky rice paddies dipped in brown sugarcane syrup, boiled chicken, boiled pork, boiled eggs and a rice dish.
Maybe that's because what was not written has been forgotten long ago. I bet we can't come up with those 30 Hmong dishes these days.
