When ask why he said that... he's excused was that it was intended as a light-hearted pun because there were a lot of women in Congress. And he's said that people latched unto this and further divide...  So, to this former pastor the prayer was a joke.

It's funny that when Dems F'ed Up... it's considered just a joke.

If he takes the word "amen" to refer to the male sex, it would be more cool to say "awomen" though. But then both would be grammatically incorrect because the "men" and "women" parts are plural and the "a" would be singular.

How do they work that out if we are to take "amen" as referring to the male and not as its own word?
