Hawks are gone so been seeing more of these guys. I opened my patio door and this guy slithered in so I said, oh no you don't and took him back outside  :

Pretty snake.  I'll see if I can get the White man to identify it then we can know if it is poisonous or not. 

My guess is a gopher snake.  They are constrictor.  Used to raised one myself for a project and then I let it go after.  I even breed rats just to feed it. 

Gopher or corn snake, same name.  Very cool.  Hope that one doesn't have a rattler.  If there are babies around, the mommy not too far away.  They say if you do not hear frogs or crickets chirping, a snake is nearby.

Gopher snake.  It is what it eats.  Non poisonous but can bite n will hurt. 

It may try to shake its tail to look like a rattlesnake

Cool snake.  Lives in dry condition n goes into burrow to hunt for small mammals to eat.

Hold that thought.  Got another guy refuting everyone n say it's a python, someone's lost pet.  If that's the case, that's money right there.  A baby python is highly seek after.

Could be an Emory rat snake.  The design on the head looks like it.  I'm gonna n my Fon so I'll post pix of it tomorrow or something. 

It is not native to California.  It is native to the great plains of Oklahoma n Texas.  Someone's pet most definitely n if you release it back into the wild, I dunno what kind of damage will happen.

Experts are guessing all over the place.

My guess for best option is to take it to your local mama papa pet store for identification and ask them if you can trade it for credits.  Pricing is about $50 for it.  Take that credit n buy your daughter a small aquarium n get a Betta fighting fish.  They cool n you can teach her the way if the Thai.

It is non native for sure so someone either releases it or snake escaping.   One guy said Burmese python.  Exotic if it is.

My mistake.  Gopher n corn snakes are two different species but looking similarly.  When I saw mine, it has that brown coloration n next check is to see if it has a rattler.  If head is triangle n huge. 

This one could be a corn snake.  That particular snake has cool markings.  Looks like wearing sunglasses and that man design on his forehead.  This would raise its stock up big time but as small, you could domesticated it but the one I caught before were big adults so those you can not domesticated it.  Still took it out for a display but had to hold the mouth down.  It then wraps around your arm and you could feel the constricting in action.  Had it was my stomach, it would not allow me to exhale so imagine your breathing with your stomach moving in one direction only.  Suffocating is next n then you die and then you will be eaten.  It may spit your bones out but only after a few days of digestion. 

I still hate snakes though.  I only mess with it if I can identify it as non venomous.

I'm no snake expert either but I thought it could be a rat snake or a baby python..

If it's a baby python, I think it got out of it's owner's enclosure or the owner let it go on purpose..
