California Officials Reveal How Hiking Family Mysteriously Dropped Dead

A family of three found dead on a Northern California hiking trail in August died of heat exposure and possible dehydration, the local sheriff’s office revealed Thursday. “Heat-related deaths are extremely difficult to investigate,” Mariposa County sheriff Jeremy Briese said at a press conference, citing an official cause of death of hyperthermia. The bodies of John Gerrish, Ellen Chung, and their 1-year-old daughter Muji were found mid-August on the Savage Lundy Trail, a remote area of Sierra National Forest. Their dog Oksi was lying next to them, also dead.

Why would anyone go hiking without planning for enough supplies.

Think it was triple digits during that time...

and why bring a 1 year old baby to such harsh condition?

Even with proper planning and experienced, you can't factor out the unknown.  The only exception is an exodus that our parents had to take after the fall of saigon.  The reward doesn't worth the wager.

The more I read about these senseless deaths, the more how I am aware of my surroundings and it really makes one think things through before going in an expedition.

Lots of times, we do things irrational without thinking things through.  Lots of times, I had people warning me and talked me out of it.

Let that be a life lesson to some.  One can never be prepared for everything, but hiking without any additional hydration preps is like the new social media event.  Let's go do a look good doing it without a clue.

It's like if I go ice fishing, I just don't just go.  I have to prep up properly.  Food, water, fuel, first aid, etc.,...  I ain't young no more.  I don't just go.

Dehydration is no joke...seen it happened in military and ....

usually people who don't bring enough water and get caught off guard.  When it happens it happens fast.  Death is just next door.
