I understand you are making up lots of excuses for the parents but under the eye of the law, they should be held accountable.   Actually, once you become an adult, excuses will not work in the court of law and even if it doesn't hold in the court of law, there's common sense/moral law.

yes, understanding the law works and everyone should learn...under michigan law, if the parents knew he was going to shoot up the school then yes, they are held accountable.  But is was not the case, this is purely a political tactic on the prosecutor...s he will not get a conviction on those charges, she's probably looking to get some kind of a lesser charge like negligence.  if she is to succeed, you as a parent, guardian and/or in any relationship to a perpetrator should be concerned because you will be charged with aiding and abating (even though you have no connection with the crime).  people need to realize they are over stepping boundaries incriminating people just by association.
