There is one reason why it's not being labeled as such... perp is a black man. Same thing started to happened when majority of the Asian hate crimes are committed by blacks. All of a sudden, Asian hate crimes is no longer the hot thing but just another bygone thing.

Look at all the headline of CNN, MSNBC, NYT, Wash Post, Puffing Post, ABC, CBS, etc. etc.

Not a single one of these media outlet called the perp a mass shooter... they're all saying "looking for the shooter"
