So, last week, I was out at 2:00 a.m. fishing and a White guy came by. He said his pals and he had wanted to catch cats, too, but they didn't know they'd catch anything that late. I told him night was much better for cats. So, I showed him my three fish that I got up to that point. He took a photo of the biggest of the three.

I was using just dead minnows: 5 onto the hook.

He was surprised how that worked. He said he felt smelly oatmeal balls worked best. I said most anything that smelled works.

Something was pulling my line as we were talking. He said that looked like a bite. It was.

So, I gave him a fish and he made me a Y-stick to set my pole onto.

I was gonna go out last night, but fell asleep.  :D

Then I was gonna go out this morning, but my body was just not moving.

You've caught too many fish. That's what it can mean.

It's too hot now. All you'll get are softshell turtles and yellow bullheads.

Okay. So, I tried night-fishing again last night and caught 5 cats.

Still good weather.

Nice.  I'm gonna wait until my days off to go.  Hopefully won't be to worn out by then.  Or leave for fishing right after work, that will be like midnight by then.

Finally decided to go catfishing at night.  They were biting, mostly just small ones.  I did finally catch one bigger one.  I had two tugs on different occasion that led to snaffu on the bottom of rocks or logs or something and lost my rigs.

Since the fishing laws have changed and now allows us to drop shot rig, perhaps I need to set it up this way.  More or less a three way swivel rig type.  Maybe less bottom snaffu.

Good idea.

I don't have a special set-up. Just hook with bait and then a sinker 9" or so away on the line and cast. I do this for anything--crappies, bass, eyes, cats, etc.

Went and did some more night fishing.  It was slow and wasn't getting anything biting so decided to use artificial lures.  Tossed out the Mepps #5 Aglia and after a few casts bam! caught a walleye.
