...Obviously, it's just armature NASCAR like racing so it's not a real NASCAR event when I attended the 99 Speedway decades ago. Regarding the H.A.'s event, haven't heard anything so must've went by OK..meaning no one was killed.. ???:

San Joaquin sheriff warns public of 'potential danger' at Hell's Angels services

A funeral for Hell's Angels motorcycle club founder Ralph "Sonny" Barger to be held at Stockton 99 Speedway is expected to draw thousands of club members and other attendees Saturday afternoon, prompting a warning by San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow for residents to stay out of the area.

"There is a long history of these type of gatherings resulting in shooting, stabbing, and homicide," Withrow said at a press conference on Friday. "I'd like everyone in this county to be aware of this event and the potential danger of this event."

The Department of Justice considers motorcycle clubs like the Hell's Angels to be gangs "whose members use their motorcycle clubs as conduits for their criminal enterprise," Withrow said. The Sheriff's Office learned about the planned funeral on Aug. 25 and unsuccessfully sought a court injunction to stop it from taking place, he said.

7,000 attend funeral for Hells Angels leader Ralph 'Sonny' Barger at California speedway

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. — Thousands of people gathered over the weekend for the funeral of Ralph "Sonny" Barger, longtime president and founding member of the Oakland chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club.

It was an event the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office warned could become dangerous.

But those who attended the service at the Stockton 99 Speedway cried, shared stories and remembered the 83-year-old Modesto native who died in June 29 from cancer.

"Even though he was blind in one eye, and he packed his oxygen, well, when his kickstand went up, you better catch up," one speaker said.

No significant incidents took place at the funeral, a spokesman for the sheriff's office said.

Sheriff Patrick Withrow had advised residentsto avoid the area of the speedway in northeast California, and said rival organizations to the Hells Angels would likely be in the area.
