Workers are fleeing from Foxconn, China's biggest iPhone factory, by climbing over fences and walking down highways on foot amid COVID fears, photos and videos show

Workers at the world's largest iPhone factory in China are fleeing the facility in droves, amid fears of severe COVID-19 restrictions following an outbreak, according to reports.

The facility, located in in Zhengzhou city in the central Chinese province of Henan, employs over 200,000 workers. They make the majority of of the world's iPhones. The facilities were hit by a COVID-19 outbreak, which triggered strict pandemic containment curbs under China's Covid-zero policy and worsened living conditions, the Financial Times reported on Sunday, citing five workers.

They should just kept all the employees inside and locked up them entrances.  Stay inside and keep the covid at bay.  If you sick with covid, you can get care from inside.  After 5 days, you should be ok and back to work.  IF you a die hard worker with no symptoms, you can work while having covid.  Production must go on and covid will eventually die out when there is no one left for it to affect in such community.

Foxconn workers clash with security in China

STORY: A video obtained by Reuters showed large crowds of factory workers in Zhengzhou city shouting and using poles to strike authorities cowering behind plastic shields, while footage from another video showed metal railings being thrown at men standing behind a fence.

The rare scenes of open dissent in China mark an escalation of unrest at the massive factory in Zhengzhou that has come to symbolize a dangerous build-up in frustration with the country's ultra-severe COVID rules as well as inept handling of the situation by the world's largest contract manufacturer.

The trigger for the protests, which began early on Wednesday (November 23), appeared to be a plan to delay bonus payments, many of the demonstrators said on livestream feeds. Foxconn, formally called Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, said on Thursday a "technical error" occurred when hiring new recruits at the COVID-hit iPhone factory in China and apologized to workers after the company was rocked by the fresh labor unrest.
