The bill RFMA (Respect For Marriage Act) was created to opposed the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). The difference is in recognition of same sex marriage... DOMA had interracial marriage but same-sex was not recognize.

Originally, RFMA did not include interracial marriage but it was put in there in July 2022 to get it passed.
