R'Bonney Gabriel becomes 1st Filipina American crowned Miss Universe
Gabriel is the first American to win the crown in 10 years.

Gov. Greg Abbott congratulated the Houstonian:

"The new Miss Universe is the reigning Miss Texas USA from Houston Texas!
