Warning signs are posted locally here when fishing in SF Bay but haven’t seen any sign at all towards the fresh water lakes or rivers. Might have to raise own fish like own farm animals in the future.

I would say that this is typical for all countries... not just the US. I've seen people fished from pond/lake with garbage floating around in other countries.

They were talking about enjoying the sport of fishing just for the sport itself.  Just catch and release.

My only problem is that when I releases it, the guy behind me would use his net and swoop up a dizzy fish and take it home.  That is why when I see a white guy catches and releases a fish, I thank him for releasing it into my pot of soup.

Ocean beach SF, white crab needs to be a certain size and if too small, you must releases them.  Guess who is behind to pick them up after you?  Cot dayam vulture and poachers I'm telling you.  No shame in the game for them plus crabs, they don't swim away at the sandy beach.  They stay put in one spot by digging into the sand which makes it perfect for vultures poachers to go in for the easy picking.  Talking about catch and release huh?  :2funny:

Few anglers actually fish for foods. Most are just enjoying yanking lines on poles...

I think the article studies only urban lakes and rivers. The far-out, jungled-in streams and lakes still have fresh and healthful fish to eat.

I think you have a good theory going on there.  He is in redneck country and he would find rednecks catch and releasing and he would bring his lucky 5 gallon buckets and will fill it up for a flossing showoff on PH.  Put a PH in the picture for better horsepower.   :2funny:
