Toleration of Winter
« on: March 27, 2023, 11:57:25 AM »

Our local  hills where the tips saw some snow.

Silicon Valley had one of its worst winters since my arrival here this season. Some nights, it fell into the 30s but usually in the 50s during the nights all winter long. My lemon grass plants have never had any issues during the winters. How do you guys tolerate all these super cold winters in the Midwest and Northern States? I would be depressed if I had to shovel snow from my driveway every time it snows.

I guess it's the same as us wondering how people tolerate 100+ temps or yellow from lawn too. I don't mind it at all because it's only a few months each season.

Just this morning,  temp in the mid 30s.   I'm like, april is this coming weekend, in the mid 30's?

My mind was already thinking about a catch and cook episode out there on the rivers and out there in the hot hot sun.  I'm going to tan myself on purpose for this year.  I'm tired of all the rain and coldness.  I don't complain when it is hot though.  I'm build for hot weather cuz I'm a May child.   O0

Can’t stand 100+ heat either so I avoid Central Valley of Cali all summer long unless it was necessary. What do you do all winter long?

I’m about to go to my old playground for some spring stripe bass action. These places are almost guaranteed to catch stripe bass(literally caught 100s over the years; pictures to follow in a few weeks).

I should be able to tolerate summers but nope lol

Been to the Midwest several times and the weather pretty suck all year around. Shoveling snow in the Winter, dealing with high humidity in the Summer. I prefer 100 degree dry heat over 90 degree high humidity muggy sticky heat.

Visiting is OK but I would not want to live there unless I really have to...

You must be from Miltown... heard they got dumped on this past weekend.

A bit of flurries this Sunday where I'm at.

Los Banos aka 152?

In the 80s, 152 might have been the place to fish for striper. There was no size limits and if memory serves me correctly, 10-15 was the limit but the places I’m coming to are closer to you than you think. You can still chase striper at 152 following and looking for boils. These other places used to have high limit as well but I believe possession of striper has came down quite a bit. Have to peruse over the regulations beforehand.
