That passage doesn't explain anything with mankind that are innocent.

The word "flesh" means those who are vile and have been sinned. The women that were raped by the fallen angels. They gave birth to Demigod such as Nephilim (the giants) causing wreak havoc the lands. At same time Adam's first born son, Cain, who murder his twin brother Abel, bore children who also vile. They also cause wreak havoc. These things God want to eliminate, not Noah and his offsprings.

Jesus did mentioned, "flesh", a couple times in the New Testament. One time he explained it to Nicodemus (one of the Pharisees) about flesh and spirit when a person is reborn. Baptize in water will not make a person born again unless he/she born from the womb. He/she can be reborn as spirit when holy spirit enter his/her body during sanctification stage. This is what John Baptist told Andrew and James to chase after Jesus because baptism is no longer important to reach salvation into heaven. John explained that it is Jesus who grant anyone a holy spirit. Another time Jesus mentioned it to his disciples when he ask them to wait for him in the Garden of Gethsemane while he was praying to his father. When the disciples were sleepy, Jesus came back and told them stay awake. He told them that the flesh (sinned body) is weak. The last one was mentioned in the book of revelation. Jesus said that if any brother in Christ feed his flesh with sins he'll be cut off from the branch and the angel will throw his soul in hell.

Once the flood was dried up, God made a promise to Noah and his family that he no longer will flood nor destroy all living things on earth again. God made rain and the rainbow appear in the sky which symbolize the covenant between men and God.
