A Napa County man attacked outside his home Saturday turned the weapon against the suspected intruder, stabbing him once and then holding him at knifepoint until authorities arrived, Napa County Sheriff’s Department officials said.

The ordeal left two men recovering from stab wounds, one at home and the other in jail, sheriff’s spokesman Henry Wofford said.

“It was a fight for his life, and the victim fortunately survived,” Wofford said. “We were able to arrest the suspect. He is 33 years old, almost half the age of the victim.”

The ordeal began around 9 a.m. Saturday when the Silverado Trail home lost power, and the resident went outside to look at the utility panel, Wofford said.

The man spotted a stranger, later identified as Andrew Kenneth Dixon, and confronted him. Wofford said Dixon pulled out a knife and stabbed the homeowner in the back.
