Took my boys out before school starts.  Ultra light outfits for 1#+ gills.  Bait = live crickets

Those are some nice size bluegills. In California, people here fish all the big gun out. A lot of small size. But when I was fishing for them. I use artificial lure and I see them big gun chasing it. The big gun seem to not like live bait, only the smaller one does. Maybe I make a one trip there to my secret spot...  ;D There tons of bluegills, but a lot of asian fish there, no hmong folk's... I think hmong folk's don't even like bluegills haha...

We use to fish for bluegills in this one creek near our old place. We use to catch them over 12 inches long. But it was only a short period of time. Don't know where they all gone to, ever since no more big one. If you use maggot, forgot the real name but they do look like maggot..., bluegills love it.

I think you're talking about wax worm.  I heard they are good but I prefer crickets because I don't like to touch wax worm/maggot.  Also the crickets I get are from my backyard.   O0

Yep mosquitos like crazy, the poncho is not for rain, it's to protect from blood suckers! The most bites I had on me at one time was like 13-14 bites, these things are ravenous.

Nope no barndoors this year, not enough money for a charter and my uncle's boat was in the shop. It's cool though since I prefer to do my own thing. Fishing for flounders, pollock and cod from shore was pretty awesome though.

Uncle n' brother went ocean fishing near San Diego yesterday. They caught 26 yellow tuna. Not big but good size... I think they went with a fishing guide. Six guys, spent nearly $1,300 in total...
