you've wasted money more importantly time, building that ar!  i think ruger has their's for sale, all complete at $349.

if you're are building/customizing something, might as well go all out.  personalized it with top quality products.

when it comes to customizing or building something...a wise man said, it's better to have one of the best thing in the world and enjoy it than having a lot of mediocre stuff.

i think it was from grabagun or gunbuyers...it was a subscription, i can't find it anymore (i get tons of emails from gun websites and advertisements).  it was not a 22lr, but 556.

i started when i was back in high school (granted it wasn't legal and in communist california of all places)!  ha!

Maybe I should go get one too, before they change the laws to prevent people from buying assault weapons.

Just don't know if I'll ever get to use it.  Seems like such a waste to just have one laying around as a novelty item.  You'll need to go make a bunch of enemies and then sit in your bedroom window and spray it while they surround your home.  They'd have to all be coming at you like an angry mob.

you don't need to cry...i only need one AR (newly installed echo trigger, highly recommended, it's as close as one can get to having an automatic weapon)) but with thousands of ammo!  i do range trips at least 2-3 times a month.  I'm also in the process of applying for a suppressor, application and fee$ paid (gotta wait 4 more months).

two hand guns, canik elite and just bought the sig365 (EDC), from local gun shop (expensive, paid retail price).

i've been carrying guns since high school! LOL...

nice brother... your remind me of my actual blood brother... he loves his guns too... me not so much because i can't understand for the life of me how some people like shooting rounds or in this case throwing money away shooting paper targets for enjoyment and action... i would rather waste my money on expensive fishing equipment because there's a possibility that i can catch a fish... to each his own i suppose... lol!

it is best to NEVER having to use it.  owning one gives you great responsibility, it also heightens your awareness, be self conscious, makes you more "siab ntev" and almost always trying to avoid problems.  having a gun does not mean to make enemies but befriending and/or steering away from troubled people.

having one is better than not having anything when your life or people you love, is at stake.  i would recommend getting one, since you live in california, a lot a crimes happen in that state.

Those handguns, he talks about, are huge
It would be really hard for a high school to carry

Plus 21 years age on handguns kill his story

oh...i have way better stories if you want to hear them...and i'll tell you one just for fun.  early 90's, i was strapped and went to new years in merced.  i had to use a portal potty and dropped my gun in the tub.  yeap, you've guessed it...reached down there among the sh!t, poop and pee just to recover it!   it was literally a sh!tty gun and glad i didn't have to use it among a lot of frenemies.  ha!

to zdn's point... i'm at the point of buying quality things and not just quantity junk now... as you can see... most if not all of my firearms are cheap... ain't none of them over 500 bucks... whenever i'm hunting with my brother in laws... they be using their super black eagle 2 and 3 that's 1500 to 2000... and i'm like... i can shoot just as many waterfowls and upland birds like you too but at a cheaper price of 300 dollars... so in many ways i'm like you too hmgrock... when it comes to hunting... only i've come to realize that it's what makes us happy... and with my particular group of hunters and fishermen... no one cares about what we use... we just care about limiting out or not... and most times, we don't ever limit out... we'll go and smoke a cuban cigar or two... lol!

i am going to assume hmgrock's mentality here for a second... all you assault rifle owners... you're wasting your time and money on plinking and the zombie apocalypse that will never come... lol!

i don't own any assault rifles because it serves me no purpose... as a competitor i used to play sports when younger to achieve that adrenaline rush... then it was hunting... but now at my age... fishing gives me that high... killing an animal is too quick... i don't need fish for food but the thrill of fighting a 30 pound fish for 10 to 15 minutes... that's what i seek...

@ zdn...  lol! i realize that in most states the approved caliber is a .240 for big game... this doesn't excuse that i used a .22 caliber but we were on private land and the owner who was this old white dude who owned hundreds upon thousands of acres... who was also a good friend of my dad's encouraged me to shoot the deer...

.22 caliber is not recommended and im not sure at which point we as a nation got so sensitive to ethical kills... which i support whole heartedly but i assure you all... a .22 caliber placed correctly will kill a deer...

btw... i am not trying to get anyone in trouble but my brother in law who is also a school teacher who lives in milwaukee who owns land west of madison... he hunts every year on his property with a 22 lr...  i have to admit... your wisconsin corn feed deer tastes a lot better than our high country deer because of the pine needle stench... our eastern plains deer aren't too bad tasting too...

Yeh. Semi-auto versions are affordable. I like fire arms too but there's no place to store them or free shooting ranges. Plus, ammo are damn expensive...

not powerful enough

LOL...you must've shot the deer right between the eyes, from 100 yards!  most think a 22lr will only hurt big game (which is mostly the case, if shot from a distance).  when butchering livestock such as pigs, cows, goat and other larger domestic animals, aside from bleeding the preferred round is a 22lr.  i have friends who are avid squirrel and deer hunters...they claim to have taken down deers with a lesser grain, a .17hmr round.

LOL...you must've shot the deer right between the eyes, from 100 yards!  most think a 22lr will only hurt big game (which is mostly the case, if shot from a distance).  when butchering livestock such as pigs, cows, goat and other larger domestic animals, aside from bleeding the preferred round is a 22lr.  i have friends who are avid squirrel and deer hunters...they claim to have taken down deers with a lesser grain, a .17hmr round.

truth be told... yrs back when i still owned my 17hmr... my cousin invited us to his farm in okie... he has roughly a herd of 100 cows, black angus...  he told us if we want to eat one we would have to butcher it... at about 30 yards i dropped one of his  bull... placed the shot right below the ear... one shot one kill no damaged/wasted meat... personally the 17 hmr does more damage than the 22 lr from what i have witnessed... im sure the ballistics will confirm that as well...

22lr is fine. Question is can anyone hit the right spot for a quick kill. Answer is no, especially a moving target. 30yrds is rather close. Size calibre is a factor but the muzzle velocity is what counts as far as penetration goes.

That's why you do a headshot while the deer is standing still. Never done that before with a 22lr though. But have shot plenty of squirrels over 30 yds with one. So I don't think a headshot to a deer at 30 yds is that difficult.

Unless the deer has chronic wasting disease
They ain’t going come 30 yard and stand still and give you a shot

Especially for you folk that lives in California with huge wide open field
My cousin in California are making mule deer shot that are over 300+ yard kill
I will bet you $100 every single…you can’t do a headshot with a 22lr
Hunting is already hard enough as is
We just trying to get meat in the freezer

I shot a standing deer under my stand less than 10 yards away from the muzzle.

100+ yard is really pushing the 22lr limit
Especially headshot
I don’t even shoot squirrels beyond 50 yard
Because you start to lose accuracy
Going start doing gut and butt shot
Just the way the ammo is made
Its cheap and unreliable

This meeka YouTube guy has a high end 22lr rifle and he was struggling At 150 yard
Missing shot and stuff
All these talk about deer headshot

btw... i am not trying to get anyone in trouble but my brother in law who is also a school teacher who lives in milwaukee who owns land west of madison... he hunts every year on his property with a 22 lr...  i have to admit... your wisconsin corn feed deer tastes a lot better than our high country deer because of the pine needle stench... our eastern plains deer aren't too bad tasting too...

If you are as rich as you claim to be
Why not just drop $300-400 on a rifle at BASS PRO SHOP or something
