Title: Religion/Spiritualism
Post by: Blongforever on December 05, 2016, 07:48:20 PM
When one buys a new house, why do people do this odd ritual of "cheb tsev" ritual?  Does it remove the evil spirit(s) from the house?

What makes it "odd"?

There's dozens of folks that do it.  Bless the home.  Let spirits know they will be living there.  cleanse the home. etc. dozens of reasons why people do it.

"Bless the home"-so lets say that does something good.  What good?

"Let the spirits know they will be living there"-Assuming there are spirits(good/evil) in that house?  How does one know there's spirits in the house?

"Dozens of reasons"
Lets hear them.

Thanks in advance.

"Odd" because there's NO logical reason to do such ritual and there's NO factual evidence that such "Odd" ritual remove the so called "evil" spirits.

Why one would go so far to sacrifice an animal for do that?

Food?

There is a logical reason for it. It makes the people feel comfortable moving into the new house. Whether there are "evil" spirits or if it works or not, the people feel comfortable living in the house. It would be illogical to be feeling uncomfortable in your own house and not do anything about that feeling. So there's nothing odd about making yourself feel better.

I've never seen that ritual? Do they actually sweep the house?
