...so he remains single all these times. He has shared with me that he has several female friends and co-workers that want to date him and he has given a couple of them a try but once they are in the dating mode, they've changed just like an unpredictable weather forecast so he has given up on finding a mate for a couple of decades now.
Now, he won't move passed friendship or co-workers status anymore due to the lessons he has learned over the years. He still hangs out with female friends and co-workers but as friends only. He said, being single has been pretty stress free in the last couple decades because he can still get just about everything a man wants but without the commitment and drama.
I told him that it's his life so if he's happy and content, continue!
Having a mate is not a requirement in life so one should do what makes one happy and live life to the fullest regardless IMO. O0

I'm sure on the other side of the spectrum, there are women that feel the same as my friend and just don't understand men so they rather remain single too ... ???

He and men like him have given up on love and I sense some insecurity issues lurking that make it hard to develop a commitment with a woman, my opinion. You will see a predictable pattern..
As that saying goes, "It's me, not you" holds true! It's not about not understanding women.

When you are married or in committed relationship, you go on automatic friendship zone. If you give that vibe then nothing happens unless the woman is a man killer and she's been around the block too many times so she is not too shy to be a homewrecker.
When you flirt, you are giving people that you are of the single and open to mingle.

I'm always confident that someone hot overseas will take me no matter what...I can wait for that, even if that means missing some hot chances here.

My friend told me that he prefers to talk to me most about things like that because I just state the facts versus trying to be persuasive one way or another or tells him he has to do or be this or that... O0
My first question to those types of questions/situation has always been: Are you happy?
And yes, what I've said to him and others is factual such as having a mate is a not requirement in life, having kids is a not requirement in life, and getting married is not a requirement in life.
As long as one is happy, one can choose to live how one sees fit... O0

Rule of thumb is to never let your last option be an option. Just like a squirrel hiding his nut, he is not going to eat his nut unless it is his last and final option.
I tell you what. The reason why so and so or yourself is still hungry is because you guys are not hungry enough. My raging hormone does not allow me to be single for a long time. A couple of decades is a long time to be alone. His frame of mind is set. He no longer can be in the same realms as the other men and women when it comes to relationships. He will be getting a dog as companionship as he gets older.

These days how can anybody understand women when they can't even tell us in simple terms, "what a woman is?"
Apparently, a woman is no longer someone born with female parts and have xx chromosomes.
