A duo that had been declared winners of a fishing tournament series event were caught in a cheating scandal after a tournament official discovered weights stuffed inside their fish.
Videos from the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Championship event show teammates Chase Cominsky, of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, and Jake Runyon, of Cleveland posing for a photo with fish just minutes before an official discovers something inside the animals. The two were the season’s leaders for “team of the year,” according to The Herald, a newspaper in Western Pennsylvania.A duo that had been declared winners of a fishing tournament series event were caught in a cheating scandal after a tournament official discovered weights stuffed inside their fish.
The official, who cuts open the fish, shouts, “We got weights in fish,” a revelation that is met with angry yelling from fellow competitors.

I read a little about Runyon and Cominski and they both reminded me of our very own rocky. Caught red handed and didn’t even flinched.
Apparently, these two clowns have been winning fishing championships in the past.

don't say winning but say stealing fishing championships in the past
Up to the committee to prosecute but without evidences of the past, they can't do nothing much. They got them on this recent gig and so they should be banned from all tourney of the future. The shame is the hardest to bare. You bring shame to your family and your last name.

I wonder how they will tread now with their current litigation regarding a 100k+ boat they won 1st place for that wasn’t given to them. These folks like rocky don’t have no shame, can’t invoke no emotion from these sociopaths.

True for most I say but some FRAUDs just don't care due to lack of brain cells, common sense, moral, values...
And yes, when you cheat, it is like 'stealing"..

Pair accused in fishing scandal won thousands of dollars, boat in string of wins
CLEVELAND (WJW) – The world of competitive fishing, where anglers battle for cash and prizes, is being rocked by a cheating scandal that unfolded at a tournament in Cleveland on Saturday.
The tournament to crown the best walleye fishermen on Lake Erie took a scandalous turn when the local tournament director discovered that the two fishermen considered the team to beat inflated the weight of their catch by stuffing the fish with lead sinkers and then padding the inside of the walleye with fillets, preventing judges from discovering the added weight.
Cleveland fisherman John Stewart witnessed the cheaters being caught red handed.
“That was the shocking part, like ‘oh wow, you really did that.’ Like, it was just so blatant. It was just like they didn’t have a care in the world,” Stewart said.

Two men have been charged related to allegations of cheating in a Lake Erie walleye tournament, the Cuyahoga County prosecutor announced this afternoon.
Jacob Runyan, 42, and Chase Cominsky, 35, have been charged with cheating, attempted grand theft, possessing criminal tools and unlawful ownership of wild animals, prosecutors said.
“I take every crime seriously, and I believe what these two individuals attempted to do was not only dishonorable but criminal,” Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said in a press release.
A video posted to Twitter showed Jason Fischer, tournament director for the Lake Erie Walley Trail, cutting open the winning catch of five walleye and finding lead weights and prepared fish filets inside them. Runyan and Cominsky, the winning anglers, were immediately disqualified.
The prosecutor’s office opened an investigation after learning of the cheating allegations.
At stake in tournament: Nearly $30,000 prize
Runyan and Cominsky participating in the Lake Erie Walleye Trail Tournament on Sept. 30 in Cleveland in which fisherman from several states competed to see who could catch the five heaviest walleye in Lake Erie. At stake was a $28,760 prize, according to an investigation by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
The tournament director sliced open Runyan and Cominsky's fish and found ten weights inside, eight weighing 12 ounces and two weighing eight ounces, along with several walleye filets.

Unfortunately these things do happen and a lot more often, just that they haven't been caught.
On another note how social media is these days. People = being influencers , but only influencing ignorant masses. How a person would claim to said caught big fish weighing xx lbs. I know cuz when I've caught bigger fish and they don't weigh that much. Even some people who claim to cast xx lure weight xx distance on xx test # line. When said, I just lose all respect to give any credit to those type of people.

'Weights in fish!' fishermen plead guilty to felony cheating charge Two fishermen who stuffed weights in fish to win an Ohio tournament have pleaded guilty to cheating.
A crowd of people at Gordon Park in Cleveland watched as Fischer cut the walleye open and found weights and walleye fillets stuffed inside. As part of a plea deal, Runyan and Cominsky pleaded guilty to cheating and unlawful ownership of wild animals and agreed to three-year suspensions of their fishing licenses.
