It was an ahole move on theking's part.

He basically ditched his mother because he knows that his older brother will have to take her in.

I've seen brothers fight over stuff like this. There is always the ahole brother who marries a non-Hmong or some uppity Hmong wife AFTER older brother and sister-in-law helped him. Then the ahole and his wife move away so parents never have to go live with them. The rest of the brothers have to take care of elderly mom and dad.

we can not live in this house together
she is old and she smell

the hubby with no choice went with the wife
and kick the mom to the curb/hospice/eldery care

It's pretty safe to conclude that theking chose his Chinese wife over his single-parent mother the day that he married her.

Oh, you're gonna love to know how much of an ahole this guy is. theking dated his wife for 10 years prior to marrying her. That means his mother had 10 years of worry and sleepless nights. No doubt that mother talked to him about it. Older brother probably brought it up. The clan probably approached him about it.

The ahole had plenty of time to make things right.

Poor decision making.

Especially single people who don't pre-plan/save. If they lose their job, get sick, or experience any type of event that disrupts their stream of income then they'll be out on the streets.

homeless makes the USA look bad and weak
we should do everything to help them poor folk

 O0 O0

We can't give them a family. This isn't China where we piece them together like Frankenstein.

Have you ever read stories by Ha Jin? In his short stories collection, "The Bridegroom", there is a story about a man who suffers amnesia after a big earthquake hits the city where he works. Now this man was not living in his hometown when the earthquake happened. A lot of people lost their family members, especially children who become orphans. In order to restore the city as fast as possible and get people back into their old routines, city leaders start assigning people into families.

The protagonist is paired up with a woman and a little boy is assigned to them. They are to be husband and wife, and the boy is their son. The man develops a fondness for the little boy but never quite feels attached to the woman, although he appreciates her dutifulness. He keeps getting the feeling of familiarity by being with the little boy. One day, his memory comes flooding back and he remembers that he already has a wife and son in another city. He wants to return to them but feels guilty for abandoning his new family, especially the little boy whose grown close to him.

He eventually musters up the courage to leave. It's very sad because he takes the little boy out for a treat and buys him a gift. Then he takes the boy back home and tells him to be good to his mom before leaving.

Or the idiot just has a "fake wife" and continues to use and abuse his elderly mom by leeching off her.

Everything you need to succeed is within you (2 hands, 2 feet, a brain, and an able body).
