Debate Central / Re: Climate Change - Data vs. Dogma
« on: June 12, 2017, 01:26:12 PM »
In my programming class in high school, my teacher said, "little knowledge is a dangerous thing."  Some of us know a few terminologies and are already to make conclusions that the experts are wrong.  That was what my teacher meant.

In fact, the tobacco industry, the sugar and the supplement industries relies on creating small enough doubt to prevent a conclusion such as smoking causes cancer being made.  How did they do it?  They hire people ("expert") to come up with result that would contradict the main stream science.  Same thing is happening with global warming.  Certain people are attract to conspiracy theories.  Those people too find themselves attracted to these kind of claims by a few so called experts.

I would rather trust 99 climate scientists than 1 climate scientists.  Same with 99 doctors diagnose vs 1 doctor's diagnose.

It's a trade off.

If she's the girl of your dream, you won't mind making the effort.  You will work around her children's schedule.  You will have to please both her and her children.  If she likes you, but her children do not like you, it might not work out.  If you like the woman but do not like her children.

Which is cheaper?

Taking care of someone in prison or giving them welfare?  If you know the answer to this question, then you know the answer to whether we should deny people welfare even if they don't want to work.  Putting someone in prison costs $40k a year.  Giving someone welfare costs $10k a year.

You're stuck in a rut. Complacent.

Do something out of the ordinary. Beyond what you're comfortable with.

Well, that might means changing job.  Taking risk.  Doing crazy things.

I'm not sure I'm ready for that.

In the last month, I have been working 1-3 hours a day.  I am still not any happier.   It just means I can sleep until 11am and play some video games before going to work at 1pm.   Friday I dont work.  I'm still getting paid 8 hours a day/5 days a week.  I need to go back to work at the factory doing 12 hours shift for $10/hour so i can learn to appreciate what I got.

I won't mind.  But I do have to like her.

Debate Central / Re: Most Important Community Issues
« on: April 27, 2017, 03:58:31 PM »
I don't agree.

More Hmong in STEM professionals simply mean less Hmong in poverty but has nothing to do with community.  Many people in STEM field are so busy, they can't contribute to the community.  Many moved out to community that have very few Hmong.

What we need is more professions that stay within the community who can contribute to the community and act as role model.  Not some guy who works 60 hours a week who hardly see another Hmong person.  We need more Hmong in politics to make our voice heard and gives Hmong people inspiration.  We need successful Hmong business owners who can invest in their community by providing programs and scholarships to kids.

Debate Central / Re: Why do you want Trump to fail so badly?

Trump fails.

Even if I don't want him to fail, he still fails.

Duh. So why do you keep wanting MORE regulations? In fact, why do you want the government to oversee healthcare? It's only going to be more regulations after regulations.

Maybe we should throw away all the stop signs, red lights, and speed limit.  Regulation sucks.  We rather die than be regulated.

Are you that naive? Your ranking never accounted for cost of living adjustments. You take one state out of one ranking and made an assumption out of that. I can do the same here:

- Almost all Dem control metropolitan are in the dumpster. Look no further than Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, Oakland, etc., etc.
- States with the highest income inequality are control by Dems. (CT, NY, NV)
- States that are worst for blacks and minorities are control by Dems. (WI, MN, VA)
- Bottom half of states running on debt are control mostly by Dems (CT, MA, NJ, IL)
- Top states running on surplus are Repubs (AK, NE, WY, ND, SD)
- Top cities with highest crime rate are located in states control by Dems (NJ, PA, MI, CA)

Blue state has more money, but they are running in debt and cost of living are the highest in the country.

Alabama have low income people but they are also ranked 12th when it comes to cost of living (from low to high).
eg. $100 is worth $114 in Alabama whereas it's only worth $88 in CA, $86 in NY... that's a 20% difference.

If you account for cost of living, CA is ranked number one in poverty rate. - Forbes

In that case, Laos is great.  It's even cheaper than Alabama.

why you need friends when you have a fishing pole?

No.  I always have a lot of free time, just not one hour a day.

why you need friends when you have a fishing pole?

I don't enjoy fishing.

It looks like Republicans took control of it in 2010.  That's 7 years.

In the state legislature, it is now the minority party, having lost control in 2010 after 136 years. Democrats are also the minority party in statewide offices. Of 19 statewide appellate court positions, Democrats only maintained the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (Sue Bell Cobb) until Cobb's resignation in 2011.

Debate Central / The Republican experiment
« on: March 07, 2017, 11:16:48 AM »
Alabama is a state that is entirely control by republicans.  Even all local governments are controlled by republicans.  One would think Alabama would be one of the greatest states with so many jobs.  The Democrat party in Alabama is dead.

But it seems Alabama is last.  It's 47th in term of poor.

So, should we adopt apply this experiment to the entire control?

All the blue states are richer and have far more jobs.
