Title: Easy Tub and Shower cleaner
Post by: Peaches on May 31, 2013, 10:15:40 AM
Found a homemade cleaner, thought I share.

Recipe:

12 ounces white vinegar
12 ounces Dawn liquid soap

Directions:

1. Heat vinegar in microwave until hot and pour into squirt bottle.
2. Add the Dawn soap. Put the lid on and gently shake to incorporate.
3. You now have a powerful cleaning product that will melt soap scum and build ups in tub and shower, clean sinks, appliances and just about anything. Just spray it on, scrub, rinse and be amazed. For tough soap scum build-up, spray the mixture on and allow it to sit as long as overnight. Then scrub and rinse.

Wow!  Thanks for posting this.  I surely will try it.

Peaches, do you know what I can use to clean the yellow/brown, sticky spots above the stove or inside your kitchen hood vent?  Thanks. :)

Awesome! Just exactly what I have been looking for to clean my shower. Hopefully it works. So far, nothing at the store works. Been thinking about trying LCR products.

I use microfiber towels to wipe....it's amazing how all that yucky stuff just comes off so easy without too much scrubbing.  Everything looks like new....after that vinegar smell is gone you get a fresh clean smell  O0

Cleaning as become so much less tedious.

okay, it didn't work that great for me. Oh, my back is breaking.

There could be a number of reasons why.

I forgot to buy white vinegar so I used "distilled vinegar" since I have some at home. So not using regular white vinegar was the reason.

Instead of 12 ounces each, I bought the smaller dawn of 9 ounces and mixed 9 ounces each. I doubt it was the smaller amount I used.

Or could it be the type of surface of my shower?  Or could it be the soap scum has been there way too long?

I will try it again another day using white vinegar or else I will need to resort to CLR.

i dont measure mine at all

i use the cooking vinegar and i dont even heat my vinegar

then i add dawn by sqeezing the dawn bottle 5 to 10 times into my spray bottle.

shake it then spray... i let it sit 2 to 5 minutes then i start whipping

works better when my towel is damp

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works great too! No mixing there so it might do you better since you aren't the best at following directions ;)

I use the pumine stick to scrub my toilet every time there is a yellow ring and then once a week used comet and a little bleach just to sit there and then scrub around.  I teach my kids to always check and clean after they leave the bathroom.
