back in the old days
when our elders are stilling in laos
whenever there's a death, you have people that go around collecting money/donation in the village
can't do that here in the US
due to how spread we are
anyways

hmgROCK...if I were you I wouldn’t even have the face to reply back in this thread. If I were you I wouldn’t even come to PH anymore because of what just said and proven, and now apparently by your reply, you even confirmed it. Or if I did come back to PH I would get a new username and reinvent a whole new persona. But knowing how you are you can have a hundred usernames and we would all know it’s you.

It seems like just about everywhere in America the standard is $20. But for a lot of young working people the standard is $40. Of course, this is only for people that are not closely related or related to you or not friends or close friends. For close relatives and close friends it could be a lot lot higher from at least $100 to thousands of dollars.
But let’s be clear...there is no rule for for giving...even $5 is still much appreciated. But the way hmgROCK comes in here and parade about how he’s going to help out. I would think he would donate at least $50 if not $100, especially also considering the fact that he’s also parade in here like he’s pretty well off as well.

I understand, it’s the thought that counts but $5 is way too low. That’s just common sense. Not trying to be mean or look down on your donation but just stating facts. Majority of people will not give just $5.
