I noticed that the married co workers of mine will not invite their spouses to company's party.  It is as though they rather not let other co workers know that they are taken so that their dynamic at work would flow better.

We all know that they are taken status but we never get to meet that other person.  We will probably never will.

That reminds me. A long time ago when I was single, this divorced guy started calling me. When I found out who his ex-wife was it turned me off. She and I weren't friends but we did attend the same church as kids, and one of her older brothers used to call me. However, he and I still talked but I never dropped signals that it would turn into a romantic relationship.

That is the thing about being too much in public with your spouse, gf/bf. You will have to marry someone out of state AND then move faraway for awhile. Too much gossip and people trying to poke holes in your marriage - ESPECIALLY if you have an unstable ex. It can really turn off people.

When I was in 11th grade, I interned in a pharmacology lab. A
graduate student who was also interned there--he kept calling his
wife every so often. Probably 30-minute intervals.

He kept saying "I love you" before hanging up.

Our boss hardly came into our lab area, so he  had no fear
of being chided. I also had my mouth shut all these years.
