A group of scammers that have no business doing driveway paving put some pothole filler and riverbed gravel on my driveway, took my deposit and never returned for work. Calls to their phone is straight to voicemail and leaving them gets no responses.
Anybody have any tips or ran into this before in the MN area?

sounds like you've lost your deposit. that sucks.
-
no, but i've been in similar situation.
they left the stuff behind and then never return to finish it.
of course the money was already paid.
i end up doing the work myself.

^^ if he has the contract paperwork, he can sue them. it is what it is... a contract.
-
Make sure you have a contract and they are state licensed. A breach of contract can get you a lot of money..

Yes, tommy. That's the situation im on. They left shovels, takes, and buckets but never returned and my calls go to voicemail. They are greek italian looking, goes by name of star roofing and seal coating. I've been scammed.

sorry to hear that dude. i don't know if you have a contract but you can try looking for them on yellow page or call from a different number. if they answer set up a job or bid at a different location. start from there.
mine was from some tongan people. hell, i don't even know if they even have a license :idiot2:
-
Sorry about yours too. But what ever happened to your situation? Any resolution? Phone number to trace back to?
-
contact your state attorney general's office. i hope you didn't just pay cash and no written contract etc....
-
That's why you should have the money held in escrow.

For scammers, u have to scam them back n in my case, I hired a hitman. Mine do investigated work n will put your head through a wall.
-
Should have told them to wait outside while you go talk to your wife. But instead, search them up online and see if their legit.. traveling scammers are so common these days.. Just gotta be observant and on your guard.
-
sounds like gysies. Heard about this scam not too long ao. They will fix your or put black pavement over your white cement for a cheap price, but will neither do a crappy job or never return.

an old white lady/man here just got scammed for 9,400.. the Perp was caught on the bank camera cashing the check, but it was too late for the victim to put a stop-payment on the check.. $$ is easily parted from a fool..

that's why you don't just hired some JOE BLOW from the street. And if you do..ask for references.... preferably LOCAL works he has done.
OR better yet...job finish first before i pay! No work...no PAY! EASY!
