Mom Accused of Throwing 6-Year-Old Son with Disabilities into Canal to Be Eaten by Crocodiles
The child's body was recovered the next day

Police in India have arrested a couple after recovering the partially-eaten body of their 6-year-old son whose mother is accused of throwing him into a canal known for having crocodiles, according to multiple reports.

Savitri Kumar and her husband Ravi Kumar were arrested on murder charges in connection with the incident, which took place on Saturday night in the Indian state of Karnataka, local police say, according to The Hindustan Times, Outlook India, and The Times of India.

The boy, identified as Vinod, had a hearing and speech impediment, per Outlook India, The Times of India and CNN’s India-affiliate News 18.

His partially-eaten body was recovered from the jaws of a crocodile the following day, police said, according to The Hindustan Times and News 18.

On Saturday evening, following an altercation where Ravi allegedly blamed his wife for having a child with disabilities, Savitri allegedly threw 6-year-old Vinod into a canal which connects to a river known for its crocodiles, per police, The Times of India and The Hindustan Times reported.

After neighbors alerted police, a brief search was carried out before it was halted for the night, the outlets reported.

The search resumed on Sunday morning, when police found Vinod’s body with several bite marks and a hand missing, police said, according to The Times of India and News 18.

Police allege Ravi had been harassing Savitri and demanding she "throw the child away" because of his disabilities, per The Times of India and WION News.

"My husband is responsible. He kept saying let [Vinod] die,” Savitri told reporters, according to Outlook India.
“If my husband keeps repeating such things, how much torture could my son endure? But he kept repeatedly telling me to let the child die," she said.

Trump and Republicans line up to praise frat boys as they wade into campus Gaza protests

For weeks, conservative circles have been describing the wave of protests against the Israel-Hamas war taking place across US college campuses as a disturbing aberration.

On Fox News, hosts claimed the student occupying campus quads were pro-Hamas and “entitled.”

On Newsmax, a spokesperson for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the protests “antisemitic,” “anti-American,” and “anti-Western overall.”

From outside Manhattan court, where’s he on trial for allegedly hiding hush money payments to bury affair allegations, Donald Trump blasted the demonstrations as a “disgrace.”

However, it seems these figures have coalesced around at least one kind of campus activist they can celebrate: fraternity brothers and counter-protesters seeking to push back against pro-Palestian students.

These counter-protesters have been portrayed as patriotic heroes defending campus from a Hamas beachhead. One Fox host suggested that “America’s frat boys” deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

No one has leaned into this dynamic more than the Trump campaign.

The former president released a video on Friday mixing news footage of various protests from around the country with voiceovers from various conservative news personalities.

The ad starts out with a clip of fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina who held up an American flag that was temporarily taken down and replaced with a Palestinian flag, along with commentary from Fox News host Jesse Waters, who can be heard saying, “Patriotic fraternity brothers stepped in and said, not today Hamas.”

The campaign spot later shows part of an exchange between rival protesters at the University of Mississippi that took place on Thursday.

The video cuts out just before one of the counter-protesters was seen appearing to hoot like a monkey and make mocking gestures towards a Black woman filming the protests, echoing longstanding racist tropes.

Stacey Spiehler, a University of Mississippi student who filmed the exchange, described the counter-protesters as a hostile crowd that surrounded the woman in the video.

“Counter-protesters were throwing things. I saw half a chicken parm sandwich on the ground, a carrot,” Ms Spiehler told The Independent. “She was brave, holding her own and had more intelligence and empathy in her little finger than that whole crowd. Whether or not you agree with her, she embodies UM.”

The incident at the conservative university echoed its larger history of racial tensions. In 1962, students rioted and attacked US marshals tasked with protecting James Meredith, the first Black man to attend the university.

As one commentator noted in The Washington Post, the seemed rivalry being set up — frat bros versus liberal agitators — also has echoes elsewhere in 1960s protest history. Radical students protesting the Vietnam War in 1968 at Columbia University dubbed more-conservative counter-protesters “the jocks.”

The Trump campaign aren’t the only ones celebrating counter-protesters against the anti-Israel student movement.

In a post Thursday on X, Mississippi governor Tate Reeves posted a video of counter-protesters drowning out pro-Palestinian activists by singing the national anthem, saying the scene, “Warms my heart.”

On a recent Fox News broadcast, Laura Ingraham interviewed one of the UNC students who held up the American flag, while dismissing pro-Palestinian activists as “make-believe warriors” and “dweebs who never really played a sport.”’

Meanwhile, a pair of political operatives with Republican ties created a GoFundMe in the name of the UNC students to fundraise for a “rager” of a party to celebrate them, which eventually raised $500,000.

Country singer John Rich, meanwhile, offered to perform a free concert “for the boys who protected the American flag at UNC.”

An 18-year-old Domino’s delivery driver was shot at multiple times after he parked in the wrong driveway while dropping off food at a home in Tennessee, police said.

Caiden Wheeler told officers he was delivering pizza to a home Monday on North Poole Street in Ashland City, about 25 miles northwest of Nashville.

"The victim stated that he thought he was parked in the right driveway but when he got out to deliver the pizza the next door neighbor ... flagged him down," a criminal complaint states.

Wheeler said he walked through the yard, delivered the pizza and got back into his truck.

As he was pulling out of the driveway, Wheeler said he heard gunshots and saw someone "running at him and shooting at him," according to the complaint.

He said he quickly backed out of the driveway and sped off. Police said there were three bullet holes in his truck: one on the driver’s side by the gas tank, one above the driver’s side window and another in the front driver’s side wheel and tire.

Here's the case that involved that Hmong father with several children:

STOCKTON - A Domino's Pizza delivery driver was shot and killed in the 300 block of South Sutter Street on Thursday night, moments after he delivered a late-night order.

The San Joaquin County Coroner's Office identified him as Mickey Xiong, 31, of Stockton.

Stockton police Detective Roseann Clark said the 11:15 p.m. delivery on South Sutter Street was routine, and the pizza was delivered and paid for.

As Xiong got back into his car, he was approached by two men, one of whom shot him in the torso. He attempted to drive away but crashed into a parking meter in the 100 block of South Sutter Street, police said. He was unresponsive when officers arrived.

Clark said Xiong's car had clear signs indicating he was from Domino's Pizza.

"We talked to the customer that made the transaction, and it doesn't seem to be sales-related. Based on what we found in the car, it doesn't appear to be a robbery," Clark said. "We don't know right now what the motive is."

Xiong worked at the Domino's Pizza franchise located at 402 E. Charter Way.

Franchise owner Craig Turner said he was asked by police not to speak about details. He did say other employees of the restaurant were shocked to hear of their co-worker's death.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of a team member," Turner said. "We just really want the police to find who did this. We're like a family down here. ... This is tough."
