General Discussion / myEZasset: Your Digital Home Asset Management
« on: February 08, 2019, 01:25:47 PM »
I've spent over 1 year working on this app project to help people organize and manage their personal home assets/inventory.

The app is officially live on the App store and Google Play. Please visit my website https://myezasset.com/ to learn more and to download, or support by telling friends & family who could use my app.

Great for Realtors - use technology to help your seller document their property assets, maintain a record (housefax) for potential buyers
Great for Homeowners - manage home assets information; installation date, upload receipts, warranties, owner's manuals, schedule maintenance
Great for Renters - keep inventory of personal belongings for renter's insurance claims.

Ua Tsaug!

General Discussion / new app, myEZasset
« on: December 17, 2018, 12:59:48 PM »
Just wanted to share this here...

After months of hard work, I'm excited to share my app with everyone. It is available for download on the Google Play store (iOS will be available in a few weeks). It is a digital home asset management app that will help you manage and organize all of your valuable belongings. Please support, and thank you!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.myezassets&fbclid=IwAR0WqeLNTZBmkPb0145yrAQlxAF1s1UNkFkhdJUxoIBHWRcLqzz20p462BM

Quick summary of the app:
A house is a big investment and it comes with a lot of responsibiliti es. It needs preventative maintenance which is regularly maintenance to prolong its life cycle. Just like regular oil changes for your car to keep its engine running, your home electrical, heating & plumbing systems need regular maintenance to keep you from future headaches and costly repairs. The same goes for all the assets in your house, but as working adults you don’t often find time to manage, organize or schedule preventative maintenance for your assets.

That's why we created myEZasset because we understand the importance and efficiency of having access to your home asset information, links to owner’s manual, scheduling preventative maintenance, attaching receipts to assets, and providing documents for insurance policy purposes. Our app is not just for homeowners, but renters (renter's insurance) and facility managers as well.

We’re excited to share our effort with you, and we hope you'll utilize myEZasset as a mobile tool to help manage your home and build a safe environment for you and your family.

This is an app I started 3 years ago, and finally developed by an app developer. It will be available on the app store for a low one-time purchase, ad free app. Please check out my demo video and provide feedback, good or bad.  O0

App for the busy person who wants to stay organized with their home, business or hobby assets/valuables. Introducing myEZasset: Digital Home Asset Management.

EZ access to your home assets on the go. Use it to document and track appliances, toy collections, cars, jewelries, home equipment and more. Set reminders for due maintenance, send maintenance work order to contractor, retrieve asset info on the go, when you need it most, and never forget any of your asset’s info (make, model, parts number) again.

The user account is transferable to the next home owner/user so they can access your home maintenance records. Ideal for realtors to show potential home buyers or to enhance the seller’s home package. Great for renter’s insurance, providing information and receipts of your assets to insurance company. Great for anyone who wants to organize and be reminded of the little-big things at home, but is too busy to track them.

all -

i'm developing a new app for iso & android. the app is a home maintenance asset management, which allows the user (renter, home owner, landlord, facility owner) to collect, capture and track their home/building assets: property info, heating/plumbing/electrical equipment, appliances, general goods, & vehicle info.

we often forget the important maintenance tasks that are required to keep our biggest asset (home) running efficiently. each year we spend hundreds, thousands $$ on maintenance & repairs. myezasset is an app that will help track your asset's info; installation date, last service date, maintenance date, etc., and send notification reminders.

it keeps all of your assets' info on your mobile device. you can access it anywhere. if you're at the hardware store and forget what size furnace filter you have, you can look it up on your phone. if you're at work and a service has to be called to your house, pull up the app and accurately give detail info about the asset's make, model, parts, etc.

throw away those old hard-copy manuals. our app will replace them all.

if you're selling your house, you can share the info with your agent, and the potential buyer. show buyers you have maintained a great home that will not break down any time soon.

if you're a renter, home owner- our app will store your assets in case of emergency incident to ensure your assets are covered under your renter's / owner's insurance.

if you're a landlord / facility owner - our app will organize all your building's assets. it can issue work order and send directly to your maintenance crew.

if you're a realtor, our app will add beneficial value to your seller's package.

if you're a home buyer - ask for myEZasset!

similar to carfax, this is your personal HOUSEFAX! and it's cheaper than a cup of coffee.

please visit https://myezasset.com/ for more info and features. the app will be out soon!!! subscribe to us for updates. thanks!

Work Avenue / hiring students
« on: January 30, 2017, 04:47:29 PM »
we're hiring students to support our engineering department, to help them gain experience and prep them for their future career goals. at the same time, we're not just looking to fill positions, we need motivated students who can perform well, b/c time and money will be spent on training.

we have 5 applicants, 4 openings. 4 male caucasian, 1 female hmong.

1 of the boy and the hmong girl share the same class/major, and will be graduating the same year. here's what set them apart...

caucasian boy - previous high school activities/work experience. director of a small volunteer/non profit group. some job experience relating to school major. excellent communication skill, asked questions during the interview.

hmong girl - no volunteer work, no high school activities, job experience not relating to school major. quite and was not interactive during the interview. she has a full college scholarship.

we have 4 openings. right now the hmong girl is at the bottom of the list, but is it fair to place her there?

over the weekend i had time to reflect and compare my own growing up experience in the 90s. my parents wasn't involved as other caucasian parents were about extra activities and volunteer work. i just knew how to study hard and went off to college. i didn't have a role model, or someone to teach me to build a successful resume. i did the minimum, but worked hard to go to school.

do you think the hmong girl deserves a chance (she did studied hard in h.s. and earned a full scholarship)? working here will get her the experience needed, so that one day she can compete with other applicants at a corporate firm.

i just want to point out that race and gender have nothing to do with the hiring decision. but i think culture/lack of education has a lot to do with how you were raised.

i hope we can be better than our parents; participate, get involve in our kid's life and teach them how to build a strong future.

Movies / fences - denzel washington
« on: January 23, 2017, 01:06:20 PM »
fences is a movie starring and directed by denzel washington. it's a broadway movie about a working-class african-american father raising his family in the 1950s.

don't expect any actions or twist. it's a down to earth movie, with a fierce moving message.

The Game Room / Vintage Game Systems
« on: July 20, 2016, 09:34:59 AM »
just showing my vintage game systems collection. not every system yet, but trying to get more. all the systems except the atari are connected to a 8 input switch, then connected to a hdmi converter box that is connected to a projector. i plan to add a few more systems and put some led strip light to brighten the console for display. i custom build the stand myself. couldn't find a pre-built stand anywhere. almost had an amish build one but it was too much. the stand is made of mdf boards from menards.

enjoy

Work Avenue / Private or Public Sector
« on: June 27, 2016, 09:28:10 AM »
if you have the option to work for the state (public) or private sector, which one would you pick?

state job
competitive salary (very little, or no annual raises)
great benefits (pto)
pension
secured, steady job (new position, needed for growth/technology innovation)
smaller projects; less than $1 million project (state lead projects, meaning we are the client and contractors work for us)
good work culture/environment (flexible)
no travel

private corp of +2,000 employees with offices all over the u.s.
same salary as the state job (annual raises, bonuses based on merit)
average benefits (pto)
401k
job security = this is a new position, the demand needed for future growth of company
big million dollar projects. communication/coordination with other contractors/clients across the country
some travel

it's a good dilemma to have, but it's a hard decision to make. just hoping for some thoughts/opinions or rational suggestions.

thanks in advance!

The Game Room / Arcade Cabinet Build
« on: June 22, 2016, 11:23:33 AM »
bought an original, double-dragon arcade cabinet with x-arcade dual joystick and raspberry pi. it's easier to buy an old cabinet than to build one.

took it apart to sand and primed.

a new fresh coat of paint.

upgrade to widescreen 24" lcd

i'm still configuring the raspberry pi to run retropie with all the classic game emulators. also, creating my own marquee, bezel and side art decals to put on. still a work in progress...
