he convinces you to pay a small portion of the debt to "stop proceedings" so you can work out whether you really owe the debt or not, and you paid it, you're automatically liable for the entire debt, even if it's not yours.

Trivia Questions / odds of survival..

you're prisoner 1 of 3.  Two of you are scheduled for execution and one is scheduled to be pardoned.  You know that it means that of the other two, one of them has 100% chance of being executed.  You explain this to the guard and mentioned that it means you only have a 50/50 chance since there's 2 of you left and only one execution left.  The guard thinks you're crazy because your odds of survival is 1/3.  Is the guard correct?

Now consider that someone told the guard who's to be executed but he's not allowed to tell anyone if they're going to be executed.  You say "okay, you can't tell me about me, but of the other two, just let me know the one guaranteed to be executed?" and the guard tells you prisoner 2 is scheduled to be executed for sure.  Now is your chances of survival 50/50?

You tell prisoner 3 what the guard tells you.  He thinks you're silly because your odds of being executed is still 2/3 (odds of survival 1/3) but his odds of execution/survival is only 1/2 (50%).  Is he correct? 

Explain your logic.

She's so excited.     Motivation for her to learn how to read and write. 

On a related note. She came to me  a couple weeks ago and told me that some kids in her kindergarten class said Santa didn't exist.

Her: Daddy, some kids in my class say Santa isn't real.
Me: Well.. that means they won't be getting any presents from Santa this year.
Her: But I still get presents from Santa right?

He's furious with you for a problem that occurred on your shift and he's ready to come in and write you up but then he finds out that you swapped shifts with someone else and that person is on his good list.  All of the sudden, its not such a big problem and he's not angry anymore.  WTF happened to all that anger?

The smallest bill I got in my wallet was a $20.  Kid excitedly surprises me with, "Look, my tooth fell out today.  Ima put it under my pillow and see what the tooth fairy brings me!"  He just made $20.

Work Avenue / Worst job experience you ever had.. care to share?

I'll share mine.  My very first full time job ever was with a small HVAC company in the bay area.  The owner micromanaged and yelled a lot at his employees.  The company was small and had a high turnover rate.  Right after I was hired, he hired a CFO and placed me under that person's supervision.  The CFO made me sign a 3 year contract to work for them in exchange for training that the company would pay for.  After I finished my training and my 3 month review was approaching, the CFO was fired and the owner/CEO told me that I needed to research the going salary for my position and we could discuss my contract and see what we can do to match the going rate.  While researching, I also looked around for other jobs and was made an offer with a much higher salary than my current one.  I took the info I found and went in to talk to the CEO.  He was on the phone yelling and screaming because a project was going bad so I just waited at the door.  Finally he puts the phone on hold and asked me what I wanted.  I said, I'm just waiting to discuss my contract like he wanted and his response was "Get your half-assed contract out of my office, I'm busy!".  I felt so bad being that was my first job and I'd never been yelled at like that before from an employer that I went home that afternoon and thought about what I needed to do.  I also looked at the employee handbook and found that no contract shall be valid without the CEO's signature so I knew my 3 year commitment with the company was not valid.  I wrote that into my resignation letter and emailed it to everyone in the office the next morning stating that will be my last day and that email was my resignation letter.  Then I left the company and went on to start my new job.
