got another chance to hit the water this weekend
this time, we are up in ashland smelting for them yummy fishes
running one, 25 ft net with my crew
beer, firecamp, fishes, guy stuff...
end up with 5 bucket (5 gallons) and two coolers

arrived 2 hours before sunset

when the sunset, they starting coming in
again

around midnight, they really started coming in

at 1 am in the morning
they where everywhere, overhelming us
gotta take out the coooler now

nice brother...! O0 friday night my son and i, after basketball practice did some fishing until midnight... he caught 3 trout and a crappy and i caught 3 crappy and a trout... such a nice duo...
had we not been watching the nuggets and trailblazers game 3, we would have caught more but it's ok... we had night slip bobbers with minnows... it was such a blast catching these fish...

Is that a 5 gallon bucket? They seem kinda small if they only took up that much space in a 5 gal bucket? ;D

That's a lot of killing and being very greedy.
It's okay, That's an invasive species so he's trying to kill them off to make room for other fishes in the lakes.

camera angle... the average length for the trout were 13 inches and the average length for the crappy were 12...

just an FYI
On the trout
They are usually raise in a fish hatchery
And than are taken up the mountain, stream, whatever etc...
And release and stock
I know this
Cause i talk to the DNR guy personally
And he told me this
There number are sooo low already for me
To wipe them out
That’s why I don’t do trout

You might want to check your facts cuz you can also catches them natives as well. Look for the fin on their lower back starts with the letter a. I totally forgot how you spell that word but looks like the word android

The fish you catch, the Meka here uses for crab bait. Basically, they don't use bait for human consumption but if you are from that tier of people, more power to you to feed the fam.

No smelt this year for our MN Hmong folks

best to drive and look for crowd having success

no smelt for you this year?
duluth has been ice up from what im hearing
over here in the wisconsin side, it's pretty good and clear
starting to wind down a bit
we give up around 2 am
because, we ran out of bucket and coolers

i think they say lester river is pretty nice
might wanna avoid the beaches
stick to the wall and opening
still not late for smelting
this weekend should be good too if the weather holds
got tons of smelts from ashland
we ran out of coolers and buckets
so we just decided to come home
