https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaring_Twenties

The Roaring Twenties was a decade of economic growth and widespread prosperity, driven by recovery from wartime devastation and deferred spending, a boom in construction, and the rapid growth of consumer goods such as automobiles and electricity in North America and Europe and a few other developed countries such as Australia.[15] The economy of the United States, which had successfully transitioned from a wartime economy to a peacetime economy, boomed and provided loans for a European boom as well. Some sectors stagnated, especially farming and coal mining. The US became the richest country in the world per capita and since the late-19th century had been the largest in total GDP. Its industry was based on mass production, and its society acculturated into consumerism. European economies, by contrast, had a more difficult postwar readjustment and did not begin to flourish until about 1924.[16]

At first, the end of wartime production caused a brief but deep recession, the post–World War I recession of 1919–20. Quickly, however, the economies of the U.S. and Canada rebounded as returning soldiers re-entered the labor force and munitions factories were retooled to produce consumer goods.

my man ran a ponzi investment scheme

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/14/bernie-madoff-dies-mastermind-of-the-nations-biggest-investment-fraud-was-82.html

Bernard Madoff, mastermind of the biggest investment fraud in U.S. history, ripping off tens of thousands of clients of as much as $65 billion, has died, The Associated Press reported Wednesday. He was 82.

The AP, citing unidentified sources, said it is believed he died of natural causes. He would have turned 83 on April 29.

Madoff was serving a 150-year sentence at the federal prison care center in Butner, North Carolina, where he was being treated for what his attorney called terminal kidney disease.

He pleaded guilty in 2009 to a scheme that investigators said started in the early 1970s and defrauded as many as 37,000 people in 136 countries over four decades by the time Madoff was busted on Dec. 11, 2008 — after his two sons turned him in. Victims included the famous — director Steven Spielberg, actor Kevin Bacon, former New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon, Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Weisel — and ordinary investors, like Burt Ross, who lost $5 million in the scheme.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-04-08/how-bill-hwang-of-archegos-capital-lost-20-billion-in-two-days

Before he lost it all—all $20 billion—Bill Hwang was the greatest trader you’d never heard of.

Starting in 2013, he parlayed more than $200 million left over from his shuttered hedge fund into a mind-boggling fortune by betting on stocks. Had he folded his hand in early March and cashed in, Hwang, 57, would have stood out among the world’s billionaires. There are richer men and women, of course, but their money is mostly tied up in businesses, real estate, complex investments, sports teams, and artwork. Hwang’s $20 billion net worth was almost as liquid as a government stimulus check. And then, in two short days, it was gone.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/13/us-regulators-reportedly-call-for-pause-in-use-of-johnson-johnson-vaccine-due-to-clotting-issues.html

The Food and Drug Administration asked states on Tuesday to temporarily halt using Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine “out of an abundance of caution” after six women in the U.S. developed a rare blood-clotting disorder.

“Right now, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare,” the FDA said in a joint statement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “COVID-19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of health problems following COVID-19 vaccination very seriously.”

A friendly community? Nope.
July 27th, 2016

Let me start off by saying, I am a former moderator. I was on the website as an everyday user and then was asked to join the moderation team. I thought, great, I could possibly make a difference. Rather than reporting toxic behavior, I can now moderate the behavior. Sound all good and dandy right?
Yes, it was at first until I started to moderate a few users who I would only assume to be the Admins favorite users. I won't be naming names. But I soon began seeing why moderators seemingly don't care. There are 2 users who are well known for their atrocious behavior. One who name calls, and insults people in almost every post. So I sent a warning about the post. The user ignored it and continues doing it. I send another warning. And just being curious, I looked at the user's report history. The user has been reported for this behavior by other moderators for 3+ years now. As moderators, we only have the power to moderate, mute, and send warnings. The actual ban is only done by the Admin. Even if moderator mutes the user, within 1-2 weeks, the user is allowed to post again. And the user continues this.
Another user has done similar behavior. Insulting and attacking anyone who disagrees with the person or slightly has a different view. This user has a history of attacking moderators also. Didn't matter how many warnings was sent. The user ignores it and in the end, moderators aren't able to keep the peace since the Admin allows it.
There are other users who has similar behaviors of insults, mocking, trolling and goading. As moderators we send warnings, and raise the level restriction from 0-100.0 to about 40 is a simple warning and added to a watch list. 40-70 is a moderated list where the posts must be approved by admins and moderator before being posted publicly. Beyond that number is muted where they cannot post.
There has been times where some of these users were given moderated status or muted and an Admin would lower it stating "the punishment is too harsh."

So no I would not recommend this website to anyone. Sometimes the moderators don't care. But sometimes it's because the Admins don't care either. It makes sense, since these toxic users create more traffic and causes more posts to occur. But a friendly community, this is not.
