Imma have to reserve a time to watch this long-winded conference.
My issue with the traditional rites is that they are way too long and often too costly.
If a family has the money and the manpower then go for it. However, those who have limited funds need to stick within their means and stop burdening family members with these traditions.
Take Hmong funerals for example. We don't need to slaughter that many cows for the kevcai portion. Some families don't actually use the $$$ for the cow but muab nyiaj ntaus ua nyuj xwb. But still, they are still putting up at least $1,000 (the value of a cow)! I say cut that cost to only 200-300 since it isn't going to actually pay for any real cow.

the issue you mentioned is discussed in the video. and elsewhere as well... people are trying to reduce the fluffs, but keep the essentials so the integrity stays intact.

if you're a christian then you have no hmong values
