If all you have are Apple products or if you have already gone wireless, I guess it is okay. But, I still like the universal option. This reminds me of why I dislike my iPad. No one is carrying around lightning adapters. And even if you do, Apple doesn't always play nice with other stuff.

wireless drains battery, you'll probably run to a power outlet every 5 mins or so

This is fun. It sums up what I think.

We'll see how good the "stereo speakers" will sound like.
So the wireless airpods will not be included and it's value at $160.
The downside is that you cannot listen to music and charging your phone at the same time with the earpods.
Pricing starts at $649 and the jet black ones do not come in the 32GB so the cost is higher.
Water and dust resistant and the next one will be fire proof ;D

It's not just an Apple thing. My Kindle (Amazon) doesn't have audio. It did before but my current one doesn't which means I can't listen to audio books. Not sure why they did that. I now have a Kindle Fire too and can do audio on it but still. I preferred the e-ink to the glow of the Fire.

There is some talk on USB Type C and how Intel is trying to also remove 3.5mm audio jacks. Either connection through the USB or quite possibly some brand new audio hardware in the works. Some serious hardware since Type C is going to be stupid good.
I'm in the market for a new phone but blue tooth only? I have 3 Bluetooth head sets, they're nice because no wires but ugh battery life is still stuck around 8 hours.

no jack, no plug? no problem. all you need is a power drill and a 3.5mm dril bit. now drill a hole to any side of the phone about 1/2" deep, plug in you eye piece and yahoooo you are done. it is that simple, even a monkey can do it.

I've been switching everything over to wireless as fast as I can. hate the mess with wires. I just don't like how we put Apple behind the driver's seat in this.
