You don't need to have it but if you want to get into college you need to take at least Algebra Trig...
That's a junior level high school course.
Almost every degree except for Art students have to take Algebra Trig their first year or pass it the entrance exam for that. They only require you to take 4 years of math in highschool if you want to go into something like engineering, computer science, and architectural drafting... those types of technical degrees.
Math is very basic, a lot of it is just Algebra Trig. for beginners and you will do fine in college if you know it.
