Title: Out of race
Post by: KRISSY on February 08, 2012, 07:33:33 PM
For those that are marrying out of race but would like to still have the traditional hmoob wedding, who does the groom ask to represent him? Do they (bride and groom) just show up at her parent's place and give the money to the parents?

I've never actually been to an interracial marriage that was still traditionally based. I think in such cases, the parents would make exceptions and just fall back on the woman's family to do the whole wedding. I tsis paub tseeb thiab.

No Hmong wedding but maybe just a simple little gathering.  The groom will just pay up the dowry and they can have White wedding following it a few months later.   I think only very few are able to get their husband/groom of another race to actually pay up.
