Nearly 10,000 anglers from across the United States take part in the world's largest charitable ice fishing contest, the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza, in the Hole-in-the-Day Bay, Minnesota.

people only ice fish because all the lakes are frozen and your fishing license says it doesn't expires till the end of the year so gotta fish somewhere.
Here in cali, if bad weather or flooding, I still go fishing. Getting skunk but still, to wet them lines as a stress reliever.
