Decisions:  Is it a two doorway or one doorway decision?

Operational Failure (bad failure) vs Experimental Failure (great failure).

Our regrets are the things we didn't try.  They haunt us.

In light of of the recent conflict in Israel and Gaza, here is a thought from one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. He, himself, was a Jew. Yet, he was equally sympathetic to both causes.

"Should we be unable to find a way to honest cooperation and an honest pact with the Arabs, then we have learn absolutely nothing in our 2000 years of suffering." - Albert Einstein

Einstein proposed a privy counsel of 4 Jews and 4 Arabs, all independent minded, be set up to resolve any disputes.

"The two great Semitic people have a great common future. If the Jews do not assure that both sides live in harmony, the struggle would haunt them in the decades to come." A warning from Albert Einstein to friends in the Zionist movement.

Einstein was labeled naive.

From the book 'Einstein' - by Walter Isaacson

Other women do get why I am not hooked on to them, while I am hooked onto you. They give all sorts of excuses, and they complain about the sun, the moon, and the stars. Each time I am with you, you simply ask me "How do you want to come?" Thus, that is why I am hooked.

There's a different between having a very IQ, being smart, and being a genius. The genius has focus and heart to use the smart to overcome all the obstacles to achieve his revolutionary task.

When things do not make emotional sense, trust your instincts and back off. When someone is not making sense, they are deceiving you and wanting something which they are not telling you.

Per aspera ad astra: Through suffering to the stars

Romelu Lukaku: “I remember the exact moment I knew we were broke. I can still picture my mum at the refrigerator and the look on her face.
I was six years old, and I came home for lunch during our break at school. My mum had the same thing on the menu every single day: Bread and milk. When you’re a kid, you don’t even think about it. But I guess that’s what we could afford.
Then one day I came home, and I walked into the kitchen, and I saw my mum at the refrigerator with the box of milk, like normal. But this time she was mixing something in with it. She was shaking it all up, you know? I didn’t understand what was going on. Then she brought my lunch over to me, and she was smiling like everything was cool. But I realized right away what was going on.
She was mixing water with the milk. We didn’t have enough money to make it last the whole week. We were broke. Not just poor, but broke.
Then I’d come home at night and the lights would be shut off. No electricity for two, or three weeks at a time.
Then I’d want to take a bath, and there would be no hot water. My mum would heat up a kettle on the stove, and I’d stand in the shower splashing the warm water on top of my head with a cup.
There were even times when my mum had to “borrow” bread from the bakery down the street. The bakers knew me and my little brother, so they’d let her take a loaf of bread on Monday and pay them back on Friday. I knew we were struggling. But when she was mixing in water with the milk, I realized it was over, you know what I mean? This was our life.
I didn’t say a word. I didn’t want her to stress. I just ate my lunch. But I swear to God, I made a promise to myself that day. It was like somebody snapped their fingers and woke me up. I knew exactly what I had to do, and what I was going to do.
I couldn’t see my mother living like that.
I kept my promise to myself for a while. But then some days I’d come home from school and find my mum crying. So I finally told her one day, “Mum, it’s gonna change. You’ll see. I’m going to play football for Anderlecht, and it’s going to happen soon. We’ll be good. You won’t have to worry anymore.”

My favorite poet is Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi, a Persian poet from the 13th century.  His poetry does not rhyme at all, is complicated like some western poems, and they do not try to address certain human issues.   They are only a couple of lines lone and is more like a quote. but they show us how beautiful we are and how beautiful the world is. By knowing so, we are free to live beautiful lives. One of my many favorites is:

"Don't you know it yet, it is your light that lights the world." - Rumi

Vincent Van Gogh is considered one of the best painter ever. His painting sunflowers sold for $40 million in 1987. His paintings are ugly looking. It looks like an amateur painted it.

In the movie 'At Eternity's Gate,' while talking to a priest, he admitted that his paintings are ugly.  However, he said was put on Earth to paint. Thus, maybe god is punishing him.

To appreciate Van Gogh's paintings, you have to understanding his life and his suffering. Van Gogh's paintings are beautiful not because they are artistically beautiful to look at.  His paintings are beautiful because Vincent Van Gogh paints life's suffering and happiness into them. Because he love painting, he passionately painted his happiness, sadness, and loneliness into all his paintings. It's not what we see but what we feel when we look at a Van Gogh painting that makes his paintings great.
