Title: For the girls
Post by: PojNiamLubSiab on December 31, 2011, 06:02:59 PM
Does anyone know what kind of bike would be nice for the girls? I just got my motorcycle license this past june and I would love love love to get a motorcycle but I have no clue about ANYTHING about motorcycles.

Depends on your style of bike, how long your legs are & how much weight you can throw around.

But a Ninja  would do.

If this is going to be your first bike get something comfortable like a cruiser or a standard. I wouldn't suggest that you jump on a sportbike unless you absolutely want to. Find something that you want to ride when it's sunny out, when it's windy out, even when it's raining out. find something that won't urge you to pin the throttle or drink while riding around trying to look like a greasy biker gang.

Try something like these bikes:

Suzuki's TU250X.
Kind'a retro cool. Sort of pre café racer-ish.

Yamaha's V-Star 250.
It's all day comfort.

Honda's Rebel 250.
Built to run forever.

Johnny Pag FX3. It's 300 cc's, but it's shabbily cobbled together.

I'd really like to suggest this though:

It's a Yamaha R-125.

But since we aren't in Europe,-I can't.

If you're set on a sportbike, there's nothing that comes close to the looks and performance of the new Ninja 250R.

Actually, I want to pick one up just to cruise around town (non-highways) and maybe hit up the backroads and really lean into it and developing my riding skills on a lower output bike.

might get the GF a 250 .... once she gets better, she can have my r1 and that will give me an excuse to grab a new
ZX10..

Don't you all forget about the Honda CBR 250:

It had gotten great reviews.

We need more Hmong women riders!  Nothing hotter than seeing that ass stick out while bent over the handlebars and passing you going 120.   :o

I wanted to get a sportsbike but since I'm a beginner and I'm too afraid to get on the bike, I would want a standard. I'd feel like it's a waste of money to buy a few bikes when I might not be able to resell them when I get "better". It's been almost a year since I've been on a bike and I think I probably forgot how to ride already since I haven't gotten one yet =P

So why'd you get a motorcycle license for? and what did you use to test at dmv with? That's odd that you're afraid to get on a bike yet passed the M1 test?  ??? :dontknow:
Well I'm interested in learning anything and everything (This year I want to learn how to shoot a gun: hunting, etc then maybe learn the forklift at work). I actually took the course at a technical school and we drove 250s there. We did the written test and the roadtest all there and since I passed, they just gave me a slip to waive my roadtest at the dmv.

I'm only afraid because I haven't been on it for so long, but if I was to ride on it everyday like how I did in the course then I'm sure I'll become more confident.

Either the Ninjette 250R or the CBRette 250.   O0

I did start on a scooter but it was 400cc compared to a ninja 250. But then again, theres a difference between it being automatic and manual too. It just depends really on what you're willing to try and be comfortable with.

I wouldn't go with a Honda Rebel 250, that is way too slow.
Suzuki's TU250X <--- Ugly bike if you get it, you're basically throwing your money away.  :-X
Ninja 250 R is probably your best bet.

My husband use to make fun of me to learn how to ride a pedal bike first before I learn the motorcycle, and some people told me to try riding the moped first. Some even said I need to learn how to drive manual first or else I won't be able to learn. ANd now some guys are saying to just go ahead with a 600cc because I'll just be wasting money buying a 250 since I'll want to go faster and then i won't be able to sell my 250.

I will keep hunting for a bike and I will definitely post up a pic when I get one =D

I agree that you'll want to go faster, but first, you have to think about safety.  Start out with the 250 and once you get really comfortable with that, and you feel that you should upgrade, then move on to the 600.  Don't worry about reselling the 250.  If you keep in it good condition and have good maintenance, you'll be able to resell it just fine.   ;)
