Such a tragic and heartbreaking story, especially during this time of year.  :'(

A 14-year-old California boy who told police an intruder attacked his family has been arrested on suspicion of killing his parents and severely wounding his 11-year-old sister, authorities said Friday. The boy is suspected of killing his father, Lue Yang, and mother, Se Vang, both 37, at the family’s rural home near the Fresno County community of Miramonte on Wednesday, county Sheriff John Zanoni said at a news conference.

Sleeping in the Forest ~ Mary Oliver

I thought the earth
remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
as never before, a stone
on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

I mainly have coneflowers, daylilies, and hostas in my yard.

I want to venture into other flowers/plants but not sure what kind yet, since I don’t have a green thumb.   ;D  I prefer something that is a perennial, hardy, minimal care, drought-tolerant, colorful, and long-blooming.....similar to my current ones.  Suggestions, if any?

Beauty & Fashion / Authentic vs Replicas
« on: April 22, 2021, 02:52:23 PM »
Lately I’ve been seeing Facebook live posts on selling counterfeit/fake/replicas/dupes of high end luxury brand handbags/jewelry.  I see them due to Facebook friends sharing the live posts.  For myself, I wouldn’t purchase them knowing that they’re not authentic and I prefer the real product, but that’s just me.  Keep in mind, it is legal to purchase fake brand name merchandise but illegal to sell them.  Your thoughts on this?

This occurred at Hmong Village.  A purse snatching which dragged a woman 75 yards.  Part of the story below and refer to link for the video and more details....

Police: Woman dragged 75 yards by vehicle during purse snatching in St. Paul

A 53-year-old woman was dragged by a suspect's vehicle during a robbery in St. Paul on Sunday.  Police said the incident occurred at the Hmong Village on Johnson Parkway.

The victim, Dia Lor, was by herself, putting items in the trunk of a car when a suspect jumped out a stolen Hyundai Elantra. Surveillance cameras recorded the disturbing ambush as a prowler pounced on Lor.

'He came up from behind me and everything happened so quick,' she told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

The suspect was seen on video as he grabbed Lor's purse, then punched, slammed and dragged her with the stolen getaway car for 75 yards through the parking lot. With the help of her nephew to translate, Lor said, 'all I know is if I hold onto it longer the car could possibly run me over or I could possibly be injured elsewhere so I let go.'

Through tears, Lor said the muggers made off with her purse and all of the cash she'd saved for Christmas gifts.

'We've had more than 20 cases that similar to the ones last Sunday,' said St. Paul Police Spokesman Steve Linders.

Home Improvement & Gardening / Vaulted Ceiling Window Treatments
« on: July 14, 2017, 12:43:28 PM »
I'm planning on redecorating and have been browsing online for vaulted ceiling window treatments.  It's difficult to find a place that sells two-story window curtains.  There are custom made ones but those can be costly and not easily returned.  I have also thought of going to the fabric store and making my own.  Anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

MN has until 2018 to adopt/comply with the federal Real ID requirements.  Do you have one?  How easy or hard was it to apply for one?  What are your opinions on these types of IDs?
